A Review on Nipples, Penises, Pubic Hair or Art
77Art Work Considered Controversial
A Personal Mission Statement.
Censorship
Today’s world is unique. In that it is an era grappled in the most serious form of controversial ironies and hypocritical censorship. We live in a world were foreplay and adult intercourse can be witnessed daily, on all three major television networks during the networks “Soap Opera” morning and afternoon hours. Seriously, who still needs to tap into the 6 major porn channels offered by Direct, cable or Dish T.V.? Why paid for porn, (or bother to find mommy or daddy’s T.V. passwords), when anyone can freely watch an episode of sexual activity between a man & woman? In ten years or so from now, today’s children will be able to openly see two women going at it, or better yet two men. Does that sound reasonable enough to you? I believe it does. When you watch an episode or two today, there is not very much difference for X-Rated porn, Soft porn, and a daytime Soap Opera. Concerning sexual activity, bare bodies together in motion are still moaning in the same capacity. Just the other day, my girlfriend was watching an episode where this man, was position between the woman’s legs. From what I could tell, based off my own personal sexual experiences, that woman on Young and the Restless was grinding the same way most women do in that sexual position. Matter of fact, the man actor should of won an Oscar if he was faking the activity that most comes naturally to him. Still, there was little difference. It is not hard to miss naturally impulsive sexual movements. Especially the one where a man has to thrust in and out, pumping his package in and out of his daily co-star’s vagina.
The lovely woman in my life has a son. The other day the three of us went to a local mall to check out some summer deals. Her son is still rather young. Well mommy wanted to stop by Victoria Secrets and “Uncle RKHenry” was more than happy to oblige her. We no more made into the front entryway, before Travis was grabbing his little pecker. I naturally thought he had to go pee. It wasn’t until after he convinced me he wasn’t going to piss himself, that I realized then that the mannequins in the front window, had given my main man his first hard on.
I’m a grown man, born and raised in Chicago. I was fortunate to be raised by an Art Broker and a Barber, who had the means to provide us kids with family vacations to go skiing in Vail, Colorado. I do not know how many of you readers have ever been to an Orthopedic Medical facility. Well, let be the first to say that magazines such as Maxim and Vogue are readily available for all peering eyes to read. How many of you adult readers have ever picked up one of those two magazines and skimmed over it? Amazing what is now acceptable reading material for a doctor’s office. Nevertheless, people will somehow feel the urge to protest Hubs, Blogs, and any other businesses promoting the same images, ideas and notions as does a Victoria Secrets catalog, Maxim or Vogue magazine features within their pages every week. How absurd? For some reason, if magazines feature a few advertising favorites, like “Got Milk,” they must be wholesome enough for a doctor’s office. However, if that doctor’s office had Edouard Manet’s masterpiece, “Luncheon on the grass (Le déjeuner sur l'herbe)” hanging up on their wall, there probably would be mayhem in the office. In addition to that, a severe lost of business would occur for all the doctors participating at that facility. I have serious concerns about what is and what is not acceptable according to industry standards.
Here's the Beef!
Now here is what is troubling. It appears as if according to today’s statutes and limitations, it is okay to decorate a storefront so sexually explicated, that a young boy child gets turned on. It is also ok to feature scantly clad scanks on the front cover page of men and women’s magazines. However, for some reason though, featuring artistic masterpieces of naked people is wrong. I personally find the irony in these particular situations rather amazing. What further gets my gall is at any given time, just walk to the self-help section in a Barnes and Noble bookstore, and guess what? Anyone and everyone are free to move about the store reading all the porn they want to. The crazy thing is- that is exactly what my friends and I would do as young boys. We would walk into a Barnes and Nobles or Borders’ bookstore, and check out all the pornographic material for sale. It was great! So what is the big deal if a museum here in America, features an artist’s painting of a nude child, man or woman? I simply do not appreciate the factual hypocrisy there. Nevertheless, people in the late 1940’s up until today screamed foul if a picture was destroyed by the likes of Nazi’s. However, nobody screams foul if the same were to happen today. Under force, many museums all over the world, take down nude painting displays, and tuck the masterpieces silently away. Why is it so hard for people to focus on the richness of the work, instead of the nipples, penises, and pubic hair?
This is something that I have been passionate about for a while. The other day I wrote a hub about the beauty in voluptuous women. A great Hubber friend here on HubPages, usauther made a comment about my article, that has photos of a couple nude portrait pieces. They commented on whether or not it was right to show “nipples” HubPages.
I do not see individual body parts. I do not get my rocks off when I see a nude painting. Nine times out of ten, I notice the color work. I notice what is featured in the backdrop, where the painting was painted, what paints were used, what canvas materials did the artist choose, what colors were used to enhance the eye and where would it look good if featured in my abode. That is what I notice, before I see a man’s pecker sticking out, or a young maiden’s over grown bush covering her vagina. I hardly ever notice piercing pink nipples, staring directly towards my eyes. Nevertheless, when I do noticed them things, it is usually after I started glazing upon her soft features, and as to what hosiery or shoes she was adorning. If the nude rendering is of male model, primarily I am drawn to his physique. Like that beholden too and featured on Michelangelo's “David.” I had not thought of that aspect of my hub. Usauthor was clever to point out that aspect, though I do not believe it was out of malice. It was more of a warning for me to be aware about. With good intentions, the last thing they wanted was for my hub to be rated or flagged as pornography. This is a big no-no here at HubPages. I thank them for that.
However, I will not censor my writings of artistic pieces because they have now become controversial. I can completely understand it if I were a member of society back before the twentieth century. But with regards to sexually explicated materials, that are already commonly available to viewers, I will not stop writing about nude portraits. If I am force to stop or banned by HubPages, I will go somewhere else. I do not write these hubs in hopes of making huge profits. I write these articles to pass the time, and spread my experiences through out the community. My mother Ophelia has built an empire from dealing and selling nude renderings. I grew up in a household where artistic achievement was celebrated and hung through out our home. Most of it was simple masterpieces depicting an ageless lifetime worth of work in nudity. “Nudity is the rarest moment of chance, an audience has into the soul of an artist,” my mother always says. She is right. It is the rarest moment we receive into an artist’s soul. Just look at many of the different hubs I have featured here. Just look at the difference between each of these paintings to the next. They are all uniquely different from artist to artist. The painted images of the woman’s body are so different. The beauty foretold here is what inlays between the painted folds to unlocking all the secrets told.

Why should you censor works that are acclaimed all over, when as you so rightly say mannequins and mags and tv show rubbish all the time.
I agree with ralwus, Good on you!!
I second ralwus!
This is sublimely wonderful, and I love the way you presented your text here. It screams Rolan. =D This is your masterpiece de resistance`, stand up and be proud that you have shown brazen positivity in the face of stupidity.
I always find it humorous, how America believes it's the land of the free. But show one boob during the Super Bowl, and oh man, we don't care if it was an accident. My fragile child has never looked at their chest before!
Ralwus told me to come and read this....great points.....If I don't get banned by HP then neither will you.
I, like you, Â was raised around art. Â But now living amongst more conservative people, I'm beginning to doubt my own judgement. Â Especially after being chastised for taking pictures of my naked toddlers. And pronounced gay for jacuzzing in the nude with girlfriends. Â When did the human body become naughty?
I still can't get over the fact that one of the popes had all of the penises chisled off of the statues around rome. I think the people who are offened by these great works of art are pervs, otherwise they would just see the art. The human body. So to rally around your cause- Give me nipples or give me death!
Barebodies to me is art, I believe society makes it shameful. I have seen and read Vogue etc. and it does amaze me how some articles are policed by the same people that read the magazines. Great Hub RK!!! :)
This is a beautifully written hub.

I doubt that there'll ever be a cure for hypocrisy - but it is always great to see it "outed" - I enjoyed your hub and your arguments.
I've spent many a long hour happily painting and sketching the naked human form. There is a great tradition of nudity in art, and here in the UK it is well tolerated and accepted, so I was surprised to hear that it isn't elsewhere. I wrote a hub on the nude in art myself, and it is consistently my best performing hub. This is a good rant RK. Nudity is a fine thing and I have no objection to it either in art or in private, but I do have a problem with the spread of pornography, so I'm with you on that one too.
Art is often in the eye of the beholder. Censorship is usually a way for a minority, or someone in power, to get their preferences forced on everyone else. Public opinoin determines what is art, not what some sensor says it is, and that's as it should be.
Hey thanks for reading my rant you all. I really do appreciate it. Thanks again.
Great hub RK. I reckon if it's still (ie painting) it's art. If it's motion picture...maybe not so (depends what is happening)! LOL.
So beautifully said. I have yet to understand how artistic rendering of the human body is considered bad taste. Manet's "Olympia" has always been one of my favorites, but I can only imagine the furor it stirred when first shown! We must always protect the rights of artistic expression in this country. Remember: it can be a very fine line between freedom of expression/speech and pornography. But thank goodness for that Constitution!!
The absolute truth! Self-censorship is the only one that counts. If you are offended by it's looks, look elsewhere.
Self censorship....... yeah, I like that.
Olympia is a fantastic painting. I've studied over it many times. I love Edouard Manet. He was such an illustrated painter. You see his heart in every detail. Thanks for reading this hub/rant.

You make some good points here, what strikes me is how even though adult (or rather mature) material is more available, people seem to be getting more prudish. Forgetting the fact that nudity is not nessisarily linked to the sexual, and can infact be very much innocent.
I had previously been a member of a mixed artist site which recently went down hill, and I noticed to my dismay that these beautiful elegant nudes were being poked fun at by childish members and I was further disgusted to find what the general users of the site thought popular was a fan made drawing (scribble) of Sonic the Hedgehog. I despair.
You have a point RKHenry, before we could see hardly a knee or a small sight of cleavage but nowadays, wee see butts all over the TV, w esee thongs, and in some rare shots, we see dicks... Irony right? Where are we heading next? God knows. Thanks dear for this daring subject.
nice article, i enjoy it when i read it
People make such a big deal of nudity in US, it's ridiculous, in other countries women do not wear their tops on the beach (Europe for example).
In the US, movies are NOT rated R if there is some forms of violence but Got forbid there might be one nipple and boom..R rating.
There is nothing wrong with nudity, why is so hard for people to understand?
I enjoyed your hub a lot! One of the best I have read so far
