Understand Time, before Managing Time

Note of caution: Please note comprehending a new concept takes time and sometimes repeated efforts. This will entail a bit of reading, some relaxing and a lot of reflecting.

It is said that Time started perhaps at the Big Bang. Or we can alternatively say that the Big Bang happened at Time zero. For our practical purposes we can understand Time as existing since Time immemorial and will continue to exist for ever.

Every body talks about and attempts to manage Time perhaps to get control over his life and gain success. So far mankind has not been profoundly successful with Time Management. This is because all time Management attempts are being made without first understanding "Time" itself.

According to the Book “No Such Thing as Time” by G. P. Tripathi the Time comes to us through a thinner than the thinnest slit in the form of the moment called “now”. No other time is available, no other time is manageable, period. What ever we can do has to be done in this Now, that’s it. NOW is the only Time.

Once we have such understanding & appreciation of Time, it becomes far more easier to manage Time.

Hence we can manage Time only by “Acting in Now” which takes us to the principle of AcNOW®

The Dilemma of Life

Life is given to us to be lived in present only. How many of us are fully aware of our present? Just take couple of youir moments off and think where are you now?, what are you doing?, what are you thinking? does it have relevance to your life> does it relate to your present? A little reflection on such piching questions will reveal that: how aloof we are from the reality of the present. While life is "now and here" we seem to be engaged with past or the future always.

Some how this switch connecting us to our present awareness seems to have been put off. This seems to be the major issue to be resolved by all thiose who wish to understand time or practice Time Management.

No Such Thing as Time

A good Understanding of Time is a must for better Time Management
A good Understanding of Time is a must for better Time Management

where to focus then?

It only the "present or NOW" that truly exists and we have access or control over. We should always be aware of or present the "here and now" of every thing we think, imagine or do. the past and future are mere distractions stealing our gainful present from us.

So if nothing other than NOW is accesible & available to us then why be bothered about any thing from the past or the future??

Time Management within your reach

What should be the most important aspect of modern Time Management ?

  • Good understanding of Time itself
  • Clear and crisp Goals
  • Ability to take congruent actions
  • Good Planning

How to Remain Focused on your NOW ?

This can be learnt. This is what my mission is all about. I wish to work with all like minded people to slowly practice our way in to our "now". I have already designed a process which is depicted by AcNOW and the timeless clock dial depicted (on this page).

These are to act as your reminders to collect yourself from false engagement of past or future and slip into your now and work congruently towards your Gravitational Goals.

Only Time available is "NOW"

This realisation is so important for Time Management. Once you have fully appreciated that Now is the only Time in which you can act or do anything, then you will forget about all your yesterdays and tomorrows.

The focus on "Now" shall make your Life, action filled and drive away the laziness or procrastination automatically. This is some thing must be learnt systematically and permanently. Once you succeed in continuously remaining in your "now" you would become man of congruent action and since your "now" will be insulated from past or future, a blissfull life will be possible.

Planning thru Time Maps

One of the innovation in Time management here is about linear Time and two dimensional Time. While the sequence of actions or the to-do list can be written in linear order actual action takes place in two dimensional plane. those who just try to manage their time with linear to-do lists generally are not so effective as they fail to apply the optimistic combination of time and resource to the tasks undwertaken.

The fist co-ordinate of this Time map is the Time itself and the other is Energy or the capacity to act. when we invest our energy in time and produce congruent actions, the results happen.

The New Approach to Time Management

Time is what makes the world go round, without it, everything stops.

To utilize time is totally another subject, that of personal management.

To understand time, as you have expressed it, you have only to look to Zeno's Arrow to grasp the meaning of " now ".....

Time, as expressed by Einstein, is relative....

You got it right, Time Management ultimately the personal management or what I have called as self management. The time itself is un-manageable, as I have said in my other related hubs.

thanks Maven101,

that was great insight as I myself did not know about Zeno's Arrows. but just read some references on the net and came to know this wonderful philosophy and your deapth of knowledge as well.

My views are from Time Management angle and that is why I have arrived at the concept of "now Mnagement". with this new approach we realise how wrong we have been in our previous attempts at managing Time without understanding it first.

Thank you Sri Krishna ji, if you are young then you need to be more responsible as you have lot more time to manage in your life than those who are elder to you. Earlier you begin learning the ropes better life you will lead.

In fact 18 is the right age to adopt time Management. we shall keep in touch & I will let you know once my book is released
