No good deed goes unpunished! by Mad Me!

At last a hub request worth replying to. The heading was "no good deed goes unpunished: agree or disagree". Well once again having my very own strong opinions on this matter I must admit I had almost given up hope of finding a topic worth my input. I have not had much brain power lately so nothing was forthcoming. A good deed does in my opinion not need to be looked at as a punishment. It should be done without needing or wanting something back. A Good Deed is something you do because you want to and no expectation or rewards should be deemed necessary if you are doing something for the wrong reason then don't do it at all. I don't believe that Good Deeds done unselfishly - you are ever punished for. You may not get a reward for it but then one day when you least expect it you will find that someone you don't even know will help you. I have spent most of my life trying to help others wherever possible and although many a time I have got a kick in the teeth (as we say) I still believe in doing good. I try everyday to do something good for someone wherever possible and sometimes its only a very small thing. As I drive down the road sometime its only just to let someone who is waiting patiently in line go ahead of me. A simple smile can be classed as a good deed. Have you ever seen someone who is having a really bad day and just stopped and tried to put some cheer into their day. Any thing no matter how small even sending an email could be doing something good for someone who you might not even know it that you have made a difference. i was in a situation many years ago which was extremely stressful and I must admit that the people closest to me who I thought would stand by and support me did not. However those whom I thought would look down upon me and really make my life miserable where the ones that stepped up and till today are still there for me.

I do not agree that doing a good deed, you are ever punished for it. You may not see the reward however it will come. Sometimes it takes years and you might not be aware of it but it could happen anywhere, anytime when you least expect it someone will help you! That is your reward. Do good for others at all time and when you need help or assistance you will be amazed at where you help comes from.

I read an email awhile ago about a young boy who was carrying all his books home one day and he dropped them. Someone who he would never have considered to be good enough to be friends with, stopped and helped him. They after that became firm friends. Many years later when he graduated from school he was asked to say something and one of the things he said was that he need to thank his good friend. Why everyone wondered! Well he told them how they came to be friends and how a stranger had stopped and helped him one day pick up his book and how it changed his life forever. He was at that point in his life going to commit suicide and was taking all his books home so his mom did not have to clear our his school locker. That day someone chose to help him and it changed his life forever.

So go ahead and do a GOOD DEED you never know what will happen! You could change someone's life forever!

Unfortunately, most good deeds don't go unpunished.

Do your good deeds and expect nothing good in return.

I keep doing them even though I know better
