Suddenly a dialog box opened up in your screen telling your computer is infected! What??? It says you need to clean it now and you CLICKED it!
You are not sure how you got infected or if you are really infected but oftentimes this is an example of what we call spyware or adware.
It is so annoying and distracting that while typing in MS Word or doing your powerpoint presentation you keep annoyed by this little messages.
Most often, you notice that your computer bogs down or slows down significantly. Your websurfing experience is like in the primitive age. Pages are not loading as fast as before.

These are just some of the effects of spyware and adware. And the most dreaded of all is that Spywares, as their name implies "Spies" on your personal data and "spies" on what you are doing on your computer. These 'little bugs' collect information from your computer as you work and sends it to the exploiter.

They are downloaded to your browsers. Some examples of good cookies are used when you input your email address in forms for your email subscription. Cookies stores info that you might later use. If you turn your cookies off, which you can simply do in the settings of your browser, some forms on your website might not work properly.

You will be redirected to a site that contains a malicious script or you will download adware and spyware as you install their program.
Have an antivirus software and keep it updated. I'm a regular user of Antivirus software and I use Avira often. They provide excellent protection from Viruses, Worms and Trojan Horses. You just have to make sure you update your Antivirus program from the Internet often.
