No More Barack Obama Jokes, Please!

No More Barack Obama Jokes, Please!

It’s not funny. That’s it. The people voted. The man won. Now please let “US” move on in a better direction. As a matter of fact, I’m going to follow the example of Barack Obama. I am not going to point the finger and say, these people this and those people that. What I am going to say that we are in a desperate need for change. It is not going to happen by making racist jokes about our new President. That has shown everybody what a wonderful country the United States of America really is. Now it’s up to us to stand beside and support the man that we voted into office.

No matter how educated, cultured or brilliant this man is, he cannot and will not do it alone. In the same manner that he became President. We all came together and made this dream possible. So now it’s time to stick together and change together.

I am saying this because every day somebody sends me a text or I hear just another joke, that is not funny. What is does do is show me just how badly we need this change. Please lets get over this color barrier stuff, let’s stop the hate, lets love one another no matter what color race or religion.

Remember, “ A wise man learns from his mistakes, but even a wiser man learns from the mistakes of others.”

Take a look at those other countries that have been fighting for centuries. What have they gained from that? Is that what we call freedom? I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not live that way.

Let me tell you from my own life’s experience. I was born and raised in violence, anger and hate. I carried a gun before I could even pull the trigger. I had to fight almost every day as a child in the streets of the Bronx, I even have a bullet in my face and a couple of slices in my body from knife wounds. All in all I became one “Bad Mother”, And that was all before my three Black Belts in the Martial Arts. I use to get mugged and wind up with the muggers money, drugs or weapon.

On top of this, Please do not take this personally. Being raised in a Spanish and black community, I was raised not to like white people. Sorry, but that’s just the way it was.

The bottom line is, that with all of that anger, hate, fear, violence, and racism in my life all it ever amounted to was even more of the same and all that did was compound.

Now I have done a “ Flipp-flop” Turned this all around. The only thing I hate is “Hate.” I never use the word. I love the word and actions of “LOVE” I use it in every thought, decision and action I make. I don’t fight any more. Please, do not get me wrong. I am not saying that I am a perfect angel, I am far from it.

However, my life is so much better today. I met the enemy, the enemy was me. Not the white people who lived in the nicer part of town, the man who owns the seven eleven or the taxi driver. I was my own worst enemy. So I surrender, I surrender to love, peace and understanding. Wow! I never thought that it could be so easy. And it is easy.

What I’m getting at, is that this is supposed to be the United not the Divided States of America. Let’s get over our differences and move forward. This is a great nation, only “WE” can keep it this way.

Or did we forget, United we stand, Divided we will fall!

Peace, Love, Health, Happiness and Unity to all… JosephDiego. Proud American!

Hey there JosephDiego -- I am so glad you found you way onto my hub and left me a comment with a link to your hub. This is a very powerful piece of writing. You are living proof that we can turn our thoughts and our lives around. And turn away from hate. Hooray for your viewpoint!

I am totally intrigued to read you are from "Eastern Long Island" and hail from the Bronx. I must tell you my father and my ex-husband are both from the Bronx. My dad grew up on University Avenue. I have fond memories of visiting my Nana and Pop. I also grew up on LI and was proud to bring my husband (new one) there a couple of years ago. He was entranced! Good luck to you -- continue writing hubs. We'll be watching for them! MM

Glad to hear you're not racist anymore. No offense what so ever, but saying that Barack Obama cannot and will not do it alone is like saying Bush's mistakes are because "we" weren't supporting him. So all of a sudden it's about how much America supports our president? If that's the case, then Bush has a bad reputation because of "us" and not him. Of course this sounds ridiculous now that you think about it.

So technically, Barack's policies and decisions (and the results that they produce) are not affected by "us". If his policies are logical and correct, it won't matter what America thinks of him. But, when our President elect tells us that he might not accomplish these goals in his entire term, I don't call that a sign of hope... I call that an excuse. He said something like "The road will be long. The climb, very steep. We may not get there in one year. We may not even get there in an entire term..."Is this a lack of optimism, or a lack of enthusiasm for his policies? Sounds to me maybe both.

I hope Barack Obama succeeds and changes the country around just as much as any Obama voter. But unfortunately, if he does what he said he's going to do, it's going to ruin our economy. So for those who think "spreading the wealth around" is the "change" we need - you can tell that to the corporations that control product/service pricing when you're paying more for gas and everything else. Say goodbye to your $500 tax cut, and say hello to the corporations we're all slaves to.

Abe, honestly I don't know. I have never followed any politics or even religion. What ever I say is just the way I feel, I feel that this country is very lazy and relaxed. I just feel that unity, might be better. As far as people standing behind the president, What I really mean, is that people came together to achieve a common goal. They have seen that the people running this country, just didn't seem to be making things much better. So they got together and voted for something new.

I think that, just like myself many people have lost faith in America. And to me America is the people. In the older days people worked harder, they wanted to fight for there country, and if they didn't go to battle they worked here in the factories making ships, tanks and guns. To me that is people that believe in something. Now everybody wants, wants, wants but want to give nothing in return. The immigrants aren't taking our jobs, we are giving them away. Why can't we work just as hard or even harder then they do? I just don't get it.

I think this is just what happened with this election. People got off of there lazy asses, and did something. But now that it's done. Now what? Are they just going to sit back down? I feel that if people just rise and continue to give the support and get involved, something might come of that.

To tell you the truth, if the Great Rev. Martin Luther King. Did not get off of his ass and do the things he did. Barack Obama wouldn't even exist today.

So Abe, again I don't know! Everything I say is what I see from these eye's. And what I see is just that, what JosephDiego see's .

So if you, or anybody else See's that I might be wrong, I will be more then happy to hear it. Because honestly I don't know much and don't want to know much, That way I can learn a hole lot more..

Peace, Love, Life, Health, Happiness and Understanding to all... JosephDiego

Hey Joseph,

It's great that America got off their asses and voted, but unfortunately a large majority of American's failed to even look at the real issues. This is obviously called an "emotional" vote. So, you're basically telling me that you voted for Obama because we needed change and you liked what he has to say. Also sounds like you may have voted for him partly because he's a minority.Which is just ridiculous. If McCain was black and Obama was white, McCain would have won the election.

But, a large amount of voters are either young or dumb. They voted on emotion, "what they wanted to hear" and probably a lot of them voted for Obama because they think they'll get a big check in the mail.

If they made people take a test, or put people through a questionaire, and the end result is who you vote for based on your answers - McCain would have won.

This is why I feel McCain was robbed of an election not because of true defeat, but rather because a group of minorities, and a good portion of young people decided that since Obama's black, he's young, he's vibrant, he's the opposite of bush - that they're going to cast their vote for him.

As far as immigrants taking our jobs - it's however you want to word it. Them taking, us giving - it doesn't really matter. Point being, they shouldn't be in this country in the first place to even have the opportunity for us to give them a job. And why do we give them jobs? They work for about 1/3 of what it would cost to hire a normal person. An of course, you don't have to pay them any benefits. And unfortunately, a large amount of these illegal immigrants were able to cast their vote for of course: Barack Obama. And what's Obama going to do for them? He's going to give ILLEGAL people the right to have a drivers license.

How F***** up is that? You're telling me some group of guys hopped in a fence in texas, stole away some "real" American's job, now instead of cracking down on these criminals, you're going to give them a drivers license? If anything we should be coming together to stop Obama from being President - not helping him.

So as smart as we were to get off our lazy asses and vote for president, the majority were still lazy enough not to do their research and vote for the right person...

Yes, Brother I am Dumb. And I can argue the point with you all day long. But here is the big question. Who the F*** am I? I'm just a dumb Puerto Rican from the Ghettos of the Bronx.

I stay away from the news, violance, conflict and hate. But it's funny, I'd bet. That there are massive amount of people out there, that wish that they could keep us minorities, immigrants and the young in there place on there asses, drunk, stoned or in jail and wish that we never even showed up at the polls.

It's probably the same people that are so smart. I can see by the condition that this country is in, that they are real geniuses. They probably are the same people that are making all of those dumb Obama Jokes.

This is the last of these debates "or what ever you want to call them" that you will hear from me.

Again I don't get involved in this crap. I leave it all to the smart people. That sit home and watch the news and argue, complain, judge and hate, and don't do much of anything else. Like run for office, or get involved in the things that they complain about. And Make a difference. I see these types all of the time.

No thanks, not me. I will not focus on the problem. But I promise to become part of the solution not to you or anybody else, but to myself. I will always give respect to the President of the United States. Even if he 2 ft tall, green and spoke a foreign language. I may not be happy with the out come of the decisions he might have made. But I will respect. Just Like I was taught to respect my elders.

And brother, as far as Immigrants hopping the fence today. That hasn't changed in over 200 years. But before the fence was much bigger and wider, Oh Yeah, that right, they didn't call it a fence in those days. They called it the Ocean! Just Like Forrest Gump says, That's all I have to say about that.

May God Bless Barack Obama.

May God bless George Bush and John McCain.

May God Bless You.

GOD Bless America.

I think I will do a copy and paste and send it to their inbox! LOL

"I'd bet. That there are massive amount of people out there, that wish that they could keep us minorities, immigrants and the young in there place on there asses, drunk, stoned or in jail and wish that we never even showed up at the polls"

These massive amounts of people who I assume you mean white people don't really think about blcks or puerto ricans or italians or homosexuals any more than you think of of white straight men. This whole myth of a grand movement to keep people down is what the election was built on. The democrats slintered everyone. The split everyone into little groups only to try and unite them under their wing and you fell right into it.

How mny times were you robbed, beaten and mugged by white people?

A black President is not going to change your neighborhood or mine.

It is good you are looking closer at politics but understand what it is about: telling people what they want to hear but not doing what needs to be done. bama will not raise the taxes and he will not pull out of iraq right away.

Keep reading, keep learning and keep writing. Be careful though. the more you learn the more you will wish for the dys that you didn't care.

Thank you Funnebone, Yea, your hit the nail right on the head, But it us few that will change the many. I keep a low profie and also keep the focus on myself. Like they say. I'd rather see agood sermon, than hear one anyday. Our great hero's and shero's were all people of action and movements. We Shall Over come.. We are getting more and more freedom everyday. What a triumph "Barak Obama"

Now thats change... Thank You God.....

You said it perfectly! I'm so tired of hatred myself. Let's unite as Americans once and for all and work towards bettering America. Don't like his politics? Try bringing it up as a dialogue rather than a slew of insults. We can have a better America, yes we can. But "not" with hate.

Why didn't people talk about unity when Bush was president? Also why stop the presidental jokes now? Bush was criticized and made fun of more than any president I know...He and his supporters took it with grace. It's funny to me that liberals can dish it out but they can't take it.

Mya, Your 100% Right about the jokes, But How can unity and war be promoted at the same time? The jokes are still coming from both sides. Hay, what can I do? I just hope things work out for all Americans one way or the other. So we can all look back and laugh at this one...Peace and Love to all...JosephDiego
