Searching the web you will find a a lot of ways to create your very own website. We have experimented with many of them and have some suggestions. Remember that is always idea to be able to have your own domain, and not a affiliate domain name. Google has stated that they intend to start de-listing affiliate sites. An affiliate site is something like www.jeffrogers.hubpages.com. while your name is in the domain name, you do not own it and it is very difficult to listed in the search engines. If you are just starting out, I would recommend getting a free blog, at one of many sites such as blogger.com, and then start creating your name there. Post to it weekly around your passions. It is very easy to create different looks, and you can even incorporate Googles Adsense into the mix.
For a free eCommerce website I would recommend a site like ours www.wsugrad921.fscstore.com
Here you can get a store front, with products loaded to sell, and all the ordering and shipping is done for you for free. you can get one for free at www.wsugrad921.freestoreclub.com Once you get familiar with this then I would recommend getting a hosting account with a provider such as BLueHost, and then secure your own domain name. Then you have complete control of the development and search campaigns.

You can get a feel for what is needed and they will host for free. Plus you can have a blog and write about the sport and this will get people to your site Content is key. Valerie, THe Rogers eMall via Free Store club is a start if you want to sell things online with no financial commitment. It really is free and you do not have to buy anything. Creating a blog for your school site is quite easy. you can try one of the free blogging sites like blogger.com or wordpress.com. Then you can customize your template and have a great way to communicate your information. If you need your own unique URL, then I would go with Bluehost for your provider where they give you one domain for free and creating a blog is very simple.
