Nokia 2630 Review - Back To Basics

Announced in May 2007 and now available for purchase by the general public (in the colour of black only), the Nokia 2630 has a slim, light-weight design making it a desirable looking phone. It is approximately 105mm in length, 45mm in width, 9.9mm in thickness and weighs just 66g! Not bad, huh?

The Nokia 2630 has wallpapers, screensavers and themes as well as a 4-way scrolling toggle located in the centre of the top of the keypad. As for ringtones, the 2630 can cope with Polyphonic and MP3s and it does have vibration mode.

Considering you can pick this phone up brand new for around $125 in the shops, it has a memory capability that I would say is fair for its price. The phonebook holds 1000 entries, call records can hold 20 missed, 20 dialed and 20 received calls, and it has 11MB user memory (internal). Unfortunately, the Nokia 2630 does not have a memory card slot. Every phone has some sort of flaw, right?

Now... on to the really good stuff!

Nokia 2630 Review - Smart Yet So Simple

Okay, the Nokia 2630 does not a lot to offer when it comes to comparing it to most mobile phones today, especially if you're comparing it to a N95 or an Apple iPhone, but, that being said, it does have all the basic stuff you need in a phone! I would say that this phone is value for money for this very reason.

The Nokia 2630 has in it the following:

Bluetooth

USB Port

Games

WAP 2.0/xHTML Browser

VGA Camera/Video Camera

Built-In Handsfree

FM Radio

T9 - Predictive Text

Calculator

Currency Converter

Calendar

Java 2.0

Oh, and before I forget to mention it, the 2630 is capable of sending/receiving SMS, MMS, Email, and Instant Messages.

See, it really does have all the stuff you need in a basic kind of way. Smart and simple! Who could ask for more?!

Nokia 2630 Review - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Not too much to report, but I advise you still read the info below.

The Good

The Bad

No Memory Card Slot - It's bad but I'm sure we'll live

No 3G

The Ugly

Not Many Technological Features... It's A New Phone Stuck With Old Technology

So, all that being said and done, if you are after a simple but smart looking phone with all the important but simple features, the Nokia 2630 is probably the phone for you!
