Nokia 6720 Classic has very recently come into my possession. This event occurred because my much loved Nokia N95 was removed from me without my knowledge or permission. To cut a very long story short, I found that there were no N95's to be had from my preferred telco & after much searching discovered that there were only a hand full of new ones in the country, and they were spoken for. A dilemma then ensued, what to replace it with.

Looking for a replacement for the N95 that is affordable gave me quite a challenge. Oh sure, I could have just gone out & got one of the new N97's, but fair dinkum, have you seen the price! They are seriously not cheap. Had a chat to the friendly people at my local telco store & discovered the recently released in Australia Nokia 6720. Now this little phone has everything that I require. More networks & connectivity than I think I will ever use & a great display screen of 240 X 320 Pixles. The 6720 Classic also scores the 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens from the N series. Because of this it has great resolution, & fantastic quality images from a phone camera. The 6720 camera also has a video capture ability. I can report that the secondary mic for active noise cancellation does seem to be very effective. So, on with a product review, and no, I am not getting paid for any of this. These are simply my own personal opinions about a product that I have very recently started to use. You can do your own research & draw your own conclusions.

The 6720 seems to be an updated version of the 6220 from last year with a newer candybar form, & now having GPS & Nokia maps. This little beast can now rival the great 6710 Navigator as your weapon of choice for navigation duties. With a battery talk time of 8.5 hours it walks all over my previous N95, I know from experience that it would chew through battery power like a teething child, & I was caught out a few times just a little bit too far from a suitable power source. Yes, I know that I can use a car charger, but the sat nav device was plugged into that, and as I was a driving a taxi at the time, the sat nav was a little more important at the time. The 6720 is at the bottom of the smartphone range within Nokia, but it is a great midrange device. It does not make huge promises, leave that to the N series. You might say that it is an honest device that does everything as it says very well.

I like the new shape with the slight curve, I also like that it is actually a bit on the weighty side for a phone of this size compared to others that are available from other manufactures. The web browsing ability is actually quite good & reasonably quick. With the stereo speakers it has great sound for all of your music. The keys are also of a reasonable size too, which seems to go against the trend of late where the keys are getting smaller. I have big fingers & this causes problems on a lot of the newer style phones. One of the very few disappointments in this package is the downgrade from a xenon to LED flash. Is it really that difficult & that much more expensive to put in a quality flash unit when they have gone to the effort of installing great optic ability with the camera, seems almost like a waste of time & defeating the purpose. That is my complaint finished with. Overall, I like this phone a lot, & I'm looking forward to getting good use from it. all I gotta do now is download some decent tunes & some interesting ringtones & we will be rocking along great. The best example of the ability of the camera is in my hub on Haircuts for Preschool Kids. all of the pics in this hub were taken useing the camera on this phone. Draw your own conclusions about the quality, they have not been edited in any way.
