Nokia N95 Review - How Did They Fit It All In?

The Nokia N95 is one of the most talked about phones in the past few years - and that makes sense because there is so much to talk about! I feel a very long hub coming on.

Announced in September 2006, the N95 was available for purchase in March 2007 (ust 6 months after it was announced, and boy did they fill up those months with advertisements!). For a Recommended Retail Price of AU$1379, you would get one piece of technology 99mm in length, 53mm in width and 21mm in thickness. They crammed so much into those measurements, no wonder it weighs 120g!

The N95 comes in a few colours. These include: silver, black, plum and sand. Silver was the standard colour. They brought the others out later on. It has a nice big screen which is 40mm across and 50mm length ways. As expected, the N95 is Polyphonic, Monophonic, True Tone and MP3 ringtone compatible and yes, of course it has the vibration function.

Nokia N95 Review - The Wonders Of Technological Progression

Ain't us human clever? First came the brick, then the baby brick and now the N95! Hopefully next on the list is a cure of cancer. But for now, we'll stick to the topic of the Nokia N95 and all its wonder features!

You can capture all your memories with the N95's memory! Just remember, this is the first N95 we are talking about, not the 8GB. I'll be reviewing that once a little later. The standard N95 comes with a 128MB card which is upgradable. The N95 has 160MB internal memory and 64MB SDRAM memory (as well as a 332MHz processor). The phonebook capacity is massive! It has practically unlimited space! It also has a maximum of 30 days detailed call logs. Pretty cool, huh?

The battery is suppose to last 220hrs on stand-by or 6.5hrs talk time.

Data-wise, is has the following:

GPRS (Class 10)

Bluetooth

Infrared

3G

USB Port (v2.0)

It's even got WLAN Wi-Fi. So you can safely say, it's pretty much got everything.

Now, here comes the fun part! I think I'll list the key features because there is about 20! So, here they are (deep breath):

Push To Talk

Voice Dial/Memo

T9

Built-In Handsfree

Organiser

Office Document Viewer

Stereo FM Radio

Built-In GPS receiver

MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA Player

Pre-Installed Maps Application Covering Over 100 Countries

Dual Slide Design

TV Out

3.5mm Audio Output Jack

Java MIDP 2.0

(deep breath out) Okay, I hope I got everything. So many features, what would we do with them all!

Nokia N95 Review - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good

3G

GPRS (GPS Satellite Navigation)

The Best In Camera & Video Technology

Stereo Speakers

A Special Slider Design

Bluetooth

USB Port

MP3 Player

Camera Has Flash

The Bad

Awful Battery Life

Lags Really Badly When Multi-Tasking

The Ugly

Yet to be informed of the ugly features. I'll add some if I ever hear of any.

So as you can see, the good out-weighs the bad and the ugly. Not many people I know that own one of these have had much to complain about, so I guess that more or less speaks volumes for the N95. If you are interested in the N95, got out there, shop around, look for the best value for money option and grab one. You won't be disappointed.
