The Scholars Bangladesh is going to organize the Second Non Resident Bangladeshi (NRB/PBO) Conference- 2009 on December 27-29, 2009. This event will be held in Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. The organizer informs that they has requested to Bangladesh Foreign Ministry to engage with the conference as join organizer with Scholars Bangladesh. This proposal is now under consideration of Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni. Initiators have also invited various Non Resident Bangladeshi Professional Organizations of different countries to join with the Conference as co-organizer.

According to Scholars Bangladesh website, Different seminars and discussions will be organized on Education, Agriculture, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Health, Energy, Environment, Transportation, Second Generation NRB, Foreign Investment, Disaster Management, Governance and Leadership during the three days conference. The paper of every seminar will be presented by Non Resident Bangladeshis. Local and Non-Resident specialists will discuss on topic. The policy makers of the related areas and other political leaders will participate as the Chief Guest and Special Guest.

Scholars Bangladesh will also award ‘Scholars of the Year’ during the conference.  One new area is going to be added this year with the previous four awards. The area of the new award is Mainstream Politics. This award will be given in the name of the Father of the Nation Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Previous awards are Zainul Abedin & George Harrison Art & Culture award,  Science, F. R. Khan Technology & Innovation award, Dr. M Ibrahim Health & Medicine award and Dr. Kudrat-E Khuda Education & Research award.  

Organizers inform that detail information about the Conference will be announced by the first week of August, 2009. NRBs may register as presenter, panelist, moderator, participant by fillout the registration form, available in Scholars Bangladesh Website.

The First NRB/PBO Conference was organized in 2007.
