Hi: Thanks for asking about plant protein. I too prefer plant proteins that are not from soy. My parents used natural nutrition all my life, and sometimes we were vegetarian. We used plant algae and also sprouts for our proteins. You can get inexpensive dried seaweed from Asian grocery stores for really super prices.

I buy big bags for less than $4 and it lasts for months and months even though I crush handfuls every day to put into my soups and salsas. A super money-saver if you are on a tight budget, and good source of best digestable protein. I put it in the blender or magic bullet and mix it into my sauces.

Another really good food that is inexpensive to make is sweet potatoes or yams, which ever is available at your local market. Yams and sweet potatoes are full of protein. My son Jake uses yams or sweet potatoes before working out at the gym. You can look at the nutrition of these super roots online.
