20 years ago there was a new sherrif in Fitnesstown: NordicTrack overwhelmed everybody with the NordicTrack Skiers and their massive TV spots in every living room. This was no one time fling but the base for a new high quality fitness exercise manufacturer. Their mission? To bring everybody the joy of a total-body exercise in their home. The NordicTrack Skier was a big hit but after a couple of years the demand for home fitness skiers wore off. NordicTrack decided to branch out from the skiers and a expand in smooth, low-impact exercise home machines. In 1998 the NordicTrack Company was bought by Icon Fitness. Icon Fitness was one of the big players already. They moved up the weight trainers, manual treadmills, electric treadmills and all other product to the more mainstream sales venues such as Sears. Icon Fitness expanded the line of product with strength machines, bikes, apperel, steppers and a lot more. The NordicTrack EXP1000 made his entrance in the fitness world.

NordicTrack EPX1000

Icon Fitness and NordicTrack delivered the NordicTrack EXP1000 machines and it rocketed the market. The NordicTrack EXP1000 is a good entry level treadmill. In the past there were a lot of bad reviews and opinions about this machine. The biggest weakness of the EXP1000 was:

- in the day not really high quality parts, that not lasted very long. A lot of plastic parts, electronic grounding problems and failed consoles.

The Benefits of the EXP1000 were:

- a 1.5 Horsepower continues motor; an 1.5 HP motor is average for most treadmills, it can get you up to 10 miles an hour.
- Durasoft Shock Absorption; when you run on the treadbelt the shock absorption provides you with great comfort. It helps you protect your knees, ankles and hip joints when running.
- Cardiogrip Pulse Sensor; a simple grip to measure hart data so you can have a good an accurate workout.
- 5 programmed workouts; the 5 programmed workouts for the beginner and more experienced runners. There is also an option to run on interactive workout on cd's videos and the internet with the built in technology: iFit. The iFit feature is really great and also available on the newer models of NordicTrack.
- The 20 inch by 55 inch running deck is for the price a really large running deck. It can be elevated up to 10% using the Power Incline feature. It really looks if you run a mountain.
- The NordicTrack EXP1000 XI Treadmill is a real space saver. The spring loaded deck could be raised and locked into place. It has small wheels so you can easily and without using to much force roll it into place.
- There is a good warranty on the EXP1000; motor: 3 years warranty, other parts: 2 years and labor for a year. Frame: 5 years.

Spare Parts

NordicTrack removed the EXP1000 from their line just recently. There are a lot of Nordic Track EXP 1000 Treadmill parts available on eBay or Amazon. The least durable parts of the machine are the Motor and the Treadbelt. There are also some electrical part available to buy.

Over the years Icon Fitness and NordicTrack delivered higher quality products. The brand drastically changed their ways and lowered the prices. Critics of the NordicTrack reviewed their opinions because Icon produced a series of products that were high of quality and in a good price section (under 1000, between 1500-2000 dollars, and above 3000 dollars). NordicTrack as brand and Icon Fitness as company are back in the business with dominating positions in the market. They still have the best distribution in the industry and with their efficient manufacturing they hold two important factors in their hands to become bigger then the competition.

The NordicTrack Comeback

If you look at one of their newer products, the Viewpoint 3200 Treadmill, you will notice what kind of change the NordicTrack treadmill has made. The Viewpoint 3200 Treadmill gots the newest features like watching tv on a 7 inch in-built multi colored screen. It really gives you the fitness club feeling at your own home. You can plug your mp3 in and listen to your favorite music.

Another great feature is an feature that we saw on the NordicTrack EXP 1000 XI Treadmill. It is the iFit Technology. Icon improved the technology up to an iFit workout card Technology. This card let you loose weight and improve your performance in 8 weeks. The iFit Technology card is designed by a Certified Personal Trainer. It is curtain that Icon Fitness have improved and outdone themselves with this machine. They also offer a very good warranty with a lifetime guarantee on the frame and motor. If something goes wrong with the other parts in the first year you could expect a Icon Fitness technician on your doorstep to fix the problem.
