Beaches:

Petite Anse :

It is located on the southeast of North Island, not far away from the only resort on the island. Many years ago a path was cleared through the corals, allowing boats easy access to the island. Petite Anse lays in a very small bay and is framed by large granite rocks. Beach Morning Glories snake along the beach

towards the ocean. This is the preferred beach for windsurfing and snorkelling

Anse d'Est :

It is located in a very wide bay on the eastern side of the island. The beach is 1150 steps long and has white, soft sand. A granite mountain with a huge palm forest borders the beach on the south side. Depending on the season and due to sand drifting the north side is characterised by coral formations.

The North Island Lodge with its library, diving centre, restaurant and swimming pool is situated on this beach.

Grand Anse :

It is located at the western side of North Island. With 1480 steps it is the longest beach on the island. Coconut palms and Vouloutye bushes shelter this very fine sand beach. During breeding season Hawksbill Turtles lay their eggs in the soft sand, which is monitored and sign posted by the islands conservation staff to prevent tourists from stepping directly on the nest areas. Due to the nearby reef and seasonal sand drifting large coral stone formations appear more or less. Many shells and round rocks are scattered along the beach. In the south, Grand Anse ends with a long stretch of fine sand. Several large granite rocks divide this beach from Bonnet Carré. The Sunset Bar serving cool drinks and cocktails is situated at the north side of Grand Anse.

Bonnet Carré :

It is 262 steps long and lies in a small bay at the west side of North Island. Large granite rocks divide this very fine sand beach from Grand Anse and during low tide the two beaches join. On the south side the beach ends with a small granite mountain. Bonnet Carré is the French name for the Barringtonia Asiatica (Fish Poison Tree). This tree has very large leaves and feathery flowers and can only be found along this beach.Bonnet Carré is also sheltered by coconut palms and has a thick tropical palm forest in the background.

Due to its intimate setting, the only resort on the island has named it Honeymoon Beach.
