NuWave Oven
The NuWave Oven is supposed to be the greatest invention of all time, or at least those as seen on TV product guys say so, but I'm withholding my opinions until I've done a thorough NuWave Oven review. I mean it certainly looks cool, but doesn't everything at 3:00am.
As a single guy, I need the NuWave Oven to be great. I've been on the all Pop Tart diet for about a year now because I have no time to plan meals, shop for them and let alone cook them. So if I can throw a turkey, veggies, some gum ball and my laundry into the NuWave Oven and flip a switch my life will be easier for sure.
When I read the NuWave reviews, people generally seem to be happy with the product an only complain about the time it takes for the product to arrive by mail. The commercials clearly state that it takes a few weeks but in today's society of instant gratification, we all want everything yesterday. Therefore, I'm gonna to accept that the shipping time is nuts and leave that part out of my product review.
I just want to know if the NuWave Oven Works and if so will it work for me!
What is a NuwaveOven?
I'm so glad I asked myself this question. A NuWaveOven and NuWaveOven Pro cook stuff. I know that seems pretty obvious, but for a guy like me concepts like this can really throw me.
The NuWave is part Countertop Convection Oven, Part Conduction Oven and Part Infrared Cooking device. So I want to know what that means and what the features are of this crazy As Seen On TV oven.
To begin with, I know that conduction is just the transfer of heat. Simply put, a conduction oven transfers heat from its source directly to the food sitting in it. It is how all of our regular ovens work.
Convection Ovens are a bit fancier. Convection involves the circulation hot air around the food in an oven. Theoretically, it does a better job of evenly distributing heat and therefor speeding up the process and consistency of cooking.
Infrared Cooking is the tricky one. Infrared is radiant heat which can heat food directly without heating up the air around it. It's like how the sun's rays feel really hot when they beat down on you directly but the air in between you and the sun is not hot. The rays just heat the object they beat down on. Restaurants use the concept of infrared cooking with warming lights and somehow this is utilized in the NuWaveOven.
Maybe Seeing The NuWave Oven In Action will better explain because I'd like to know how this As Seen On TV oven uses Convection, Conduction and Infrared Cooking simultaneously. The whole As Seen On TV thing screams junk to me. I would generally want this type of electrical device to come from a major store. But, I have yet to see any negative claims in the Nuwave Oven Reviews so I'm going to assume they have the safety issues worked out. I just think of the easy bake oven when I see the sales pitch. Anyway, the NuWave Oven Infomercial also claims that this one oven drastically cuts down cooking time and you don't even have to defrost. In fact it can:
Broil, Roast, Grill, Bake, Barbeque, Steam, Dehydrate, Air Fry
Apparently Air Frying means Frying without Oil which doesn't make sense to me. Ever had unfried french fries? That just mean backed. Further this contraption is supposed to be eco-friendly so I'm ready to watch this infomercial and then put the NuWave Oven to the Test

NuWave Oven Infomercial Pt 2
NuWave Oven Reviews
The above Infomercial was loaded with testimonials and all kinds of nuwave oven reviews about how people who cook with the NuWave Oven lose weight because the cooking technique reduces the amount of fat retained in the food, reduces cholesterol and therefore reduces our waistlines. The food looked appetizing and I'm starting to see that it cooks from the inside out. Let's see what part 2 of the NuWave Infomercial has to say
NuWave Oven Infomercial Pt 3
Part 2 of the Infomercial certainly makes the NuWave Oven Pro look like one of those must have as seen on tv products. I loved Heel Tastic and will continue to buy it. I even bought impact gel insoles, but to be honest I bought them from a doctor and knew about them long before they were featured on Pitchmen. So I'm not one of those who shy away from Seen On TV just because a product is pitched by some carnival barkers or lovable kitchen personalities. But, this one may turn out to be one of those products that doesn't make the food at your house as well as it appears on TV. After all, you just need to smear Heel Tastic on your feet, you don't have to eat it. So I'm gonna keep watching the infomercial and then let you know if I bought the NuWave Oven Pro and what my review is.
So Part 3 of the NuWave Oven Pro infomercial was all infomercial. Testimonials from professional chefs, a ministry student who is supposed to represent some honesty, and a whole mess of fit happy people so I guess The As Seen On TV people have done their job convincing me that I need to cook my food faster with this combo Confection, Conduction and Infrared NuWave Oven. But I still have one question.
What's the difference between the NuWave Oven and the NuWave Oven Pro? Isn't that kind of important?
Besides being a little sleeker, newer and cooler looking there is no a lot of difference between the NuWave Oven and the NuWave Oven Pro. They are both 1500watts, they both use convection cooking, conduction cooking and infrared cooking, and they both work well.
The major difference is that the NuWave Oven has Dial Controls on the Power Head which are very easy to use for controlling time and temperature. It can be programmed for up to 60 minutes at a time.
And the NuWave Oven Pro has a Digital Control Panel and can be programmed for up to 2 hours at HI power or up to 9 hrs/99 min. at lower power levels.
To me the selling point will be the deal being offered and when I got mine the deal was this:
- Free Instructional DVD (kind of helpful)
- Free Supreme Pizza Kit (Fun for about a minute)
- Free 25 Gourmet Recipe Card Set (Thought it was a dumb Trivia Card Game)
- 2 Free Blenders (Turned Out Not to Be So Free but Look Great In Garage)
- And a Carrying Case (In Case I take it on a Vacation or something)
All this for 3 Easy Payments of $39.99 plus Shipping & Handling. Not so great but the price was really pretty good compared to other offers I'd seen online and the NuWave Oven Reviews have been quite good. And it's now that I'll tell you my review.
I really like the darn thing. I'm not smart enough to read the recipe cards, not interested enough in trying to dry an apple, but just smart enough to make really great meat in my NuWave.
- Did I need to buy it? No, not really.
- Am I glad I bought it? No, not really?
- Am I eating better and avoiding drive thru's just to save time? YES!

NuWave Oven Pro Review
This is the kind of Review I love. TV News programs often have As Seen On TV Product reviews where they choose viewers to test products at home and put them through the ringer. NBC 4 in Washington DC decided to Review the NuWave Oven Pro by sending the product and the silly infomercial to Grace Ann Lewis and let her test it out. She actually did a pretty thorough job trying out menu items which are supposed to be easy to make taste great. I was nervous because the official name of the news segment is "Does it Really do that?", and this seems to try and set the products up for failure. This NuWave Oven video is pretty entertaining and I'll give away the ending. It's a thumbs up for the NuWave Oven Pro.

Thanks for doing such a thorough Hub. The NuWave Oven has always looked enticing to me but the review showing teh normal person using it ultimately sold me.
I hate this NuWave Oven. It does not cook very fast at all. I followed the directions to the letter. The chart says cook fresh chicken 5 min. per #. Chef Harry on disk says 15 min. per #. Neither one worked. It took me 2-1/2 hours to cook this chicken, more time than my oven takes. Easier to clean my self-cleaning oven than to try and put this NuWave in my brand new dishwasher. It just did not fit the way they said it would. Had to break it up into two different washings. Chicken was dry and tasteless, not moist. I am very disappointed. Don't think the infrared was working on this unit. Am returning it as fast as I can and will buy a pressure cooker instead.
How To Use a Countertop Convection Oven
Now that we've established the NuWave Oven Pro seems to work, the food seems good, and we might want one, how to we actually use a countertop convection oven? And, what about the infrared oven part and the conduction cooking.
As I always did in school, anytime I was assigned some reading, I looked for the video! So enter the Chef Harry "campy" how to use the NuWave Oven instructional infomerical. Once you get past his sickening happiness regarding the perfect food produced in the NuWave, there's some actual great cooking tips in these clips so they are worth watching. Here's Part 1. Part 1 covers unpacking your NuWave Oven and an explanation of the features and how to use them. Just knowing the what, where and hows of your little infrared oven is worth the viewing of Chef Harry's video.
Cooking With The NuWave Oven
So it's time for Chef Harry to show us how to do some cooking with our NuWave Oven and the way he does it makes me hungry. But again, I'm under no illusions that my meals will come out so perfect. But, I will admit that the NBC 4 test above proved that anyone can make perfect meals with this countertop oven.
Part 2 of Chef Harry's instructions include preparing, cooking and serving a chicken. Half way through the process, he shows us how to add vegetables cook them perfectly. The second part of the video includes some really cool pita pizzas! Again, Chef Harry kind of bores me at times but I'm learning some cool things about convection cooking.
Cooking Steaks With The NuWave
Now here's something useful for me. I'm the world's worst steak maker. Is that even what's it's called? Anyway, Part 3 of the NuWave oven instructional video starts out with Chef Harry showing us how easy it is to prepare steaks using the stainless rack at the 4 inch level. He also points out something I forget when I'm cheating using video, that we have the quick and easy cooking guide which immediately lists how to cook specific items and for how long. The whole thing is starting to look rather fool proof if you ask me. Chef Harry adds a few Lobster Tails to this meal along with some healthy veggies so let's take a peak.
Part 3 also shows us how to cook the salmon we see in every NuWave Video, commercial and infomercial produced. Salmon is something I personally destroy with every attempt and I have to say that my NuWave Oven salmon turns out well whenever I make it.
Nuwaveoven Instructions Part 4
Ok, almost done here, but since we've made it this far, let's continue with Chef Harry. In the final piece of the pie (so sorry for that pun), Chef Harry finishes off the salmon and starts in with some great tips for creating gourmet deserts using the stainless rack at the 4 inch setting. It's just some pineapples, or is it? This pineapple desert made in only 5 minutes will blow you away.
Lost in all this Nuwaveoven talk has been the concept of time. It's in part 4 that Chef Harry reminds us that these complete meals are made as quickly in our NuWave countertop Ovens as in any appliance on the market. The infrared oven also creates new cooking capacity which most of us need. The Nuwave allows us to cook a turkey and use the oven for other items or vice versa. I never thought about the fact that this countertop oven gives us more cooking real estate in the kitchen.
At the end of the clip, Chef Harry shows us some quick tips for keeping the drain pan clean during cooking, using wax paper to create a cookie sheet and tips for those who plan to dehydrate food with the NuWave. Again, I'm sold on this product and am pretty well convinced that you can buy a NuWave Oven even if Chef Harry doesn't come in the box!

I was just reading about the NuWave Oven Pro and thinking about writing a hub because of the Pro but you I like yours. I bookmarked it http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/285CE63C-F44D-41C4-8
