However, The Nutcracker became increasingly popular. and was now performed in England as well. Ede Brada choreographed it and it was performed in England in 1934. The first performance of the Nutcracker in the United States was in 1944. The San Francisco Ballet was privileged to be the first to perform the famous ballet and William Christensen was privileged to be the first artistic director.
