I'm not susan but I've been doing research on companies, I would recommend Halo*, Breeder's choices*, Paul Newman's*, Harmony Farms, Life4K9 or The Honest Kitchen*. All of these have no class actions and have no artifacial preservatives also the ones with * have been recommended by people other then me.
To anyone feeding their pets Nutro products, please go to this site:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/
There is an article on the front page, dated 4/22/09, about an on-going investigation into the company while many pets are still getting sick and dying from this pet food.
To concered and anyone else reading this,
There have been no reports of any deaths or even sick animals. Suppliers to Nutro messed up the zinc and potassium content. Nutro did the right thing by pulling these off shelves just in case. It was a voluntary recall because they care. They pulled this food from 10 different countries costing them thousands of dollars just because they wanted to be safe with your pets. This is the kind of company you want looking after your pets. One that isn't afraid of saying we made a mistake, let us fix it.
To Concern, your exagerated comment in unnecessary and uncalled for. Get your facts right before you open your mouth next time.
To Richard,
First, could you please tell me how I exaggerated my comment? It is a fact that two years after the major recall Nutro is still in the news for causing sickness and deaths in our pets. I highly doubt you're ready to debate this fact with the people who have lost their beloved pets to the poison you endorse, are you? You say: "there have been no reports of any deaths or even sick animals." Maybe on Jupiter (or Mars... pun intended) there hasn't been any complaints but for the rest of us who live on planet Earth, we all beg to differ. If it weren't so sad what Nutro is doing to our innocent pets, all for the love of profits, I would have to laugh at your statement. With over eight hundred complaints against this company do you honestly believe your feeble comment, trying to portray Nutro as an innocent bystander, is going to convince people otherwise?
To non-Nutro employees... Please read the latest article here (half way down the homepage) dated May 26, 2009:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/
The Nutro recall that Richard is speaking of has to do with dry cat food. For most people who are not aware, this recall should've taken place 9 months ago. Nutro ignored the toxic findings of the zinc levels in their products and only recently recalled the cat food due to the reported deaths and sickness of cats. If anyone believes Nutro cares about our pets and has "voluntarily" recalled the cat food "just in case", you have to read the heart-wrenching stories of recent cat deaths due to Nutro. Go to: http://consumeraffairs.com/ and copy/paste this title in the search bar:
Cat Owners Bristle at NUTRO Denials
This company's behavior is despicable to say the least. To read the real story behind this particular recall and how it affects your dogs as well please go to this site:
http://www.pfpsa.org/ (click onto 'News - Updates')
here are a few paragraphs from the article:
According to Nutro, the recalled cat food had "excessive" levels of zinc. As Nutro has previously denounced that zinc levels in dog food were "excessive" according to AAFCO standards, we may presume the recalled cat food contained zinc above the 2,000 ppm level. According to Nutro, it has received no complaints related to the recalled cat food. But, then again, that's what Nutro said about the over 800 complaints reported on its dry dog food. In light of zinc's known toxicity, and the length of time these products were on the market, it is impossible to imagine this was anything other than an extraordinarily deadly event.
While pfpsa.org does not endorse the use of commercial pet food because of lack of FDA oversight of the industry and the typically poor quality of ingredients, if you do have to use commercial pet food, it is pfpsa.org's view that Mars/Nutro products are among the worst of the worst. This is a company, that by its own actions, has clearly demonstrated it simply does not care if your pet lives or dies as long as it can make a quick buck, while being totally unaccountable to those they harm with their deadly products.
.... does Nutro really care about our pets, Richard? You know and I know they don't, as well as countless pet owners who have unfortunately learned the hard way just how evil Nutro is. Why speak in favor of a company who causes so much heartache for families? You wouldn't be so quick to defend this company if the horror hit you, or someone you know, personally. How much can Nutro pay you to defend them... seriously, is it worth it to you, Richard? Go ahead and tell me again to "get my facts right before I open my mouth next time"... only a non pet owner would be so naive. With the years of controversy swirling around Nutro and the numerous complaints reported, anyone with half a brain will no better to steer clear of Nutro products. With so many other choices, a person would have to be inhumane to choose Nutro.
