Ask Susan Peters - Nutro Healthy Pet Foods?

Nutro Pet Food has a history of doing a very poor job of making healthy pet foods. Healthy pet foods do not include needless grains and other pet health damaging ingredients.

Corn gluten meal is a cheap filler used by pet food companies to reduce production costs. Gluten is a super concentrated mix as is meal. So the corn is this batch is actually at least 5 times the amount listed.

Poultry Fat and Fish Oil - Used to encourage cats and dogs to eat ingredients the pet would normally not eat.

Beet pulp is another cheap filler used by pet food companies. "Beet Pulp" sounds good, doesn't it? Well it's not. Just because Grandma told us we had to eat our beets as kids doesn't mean it is good for our dogs. Grandma didn't take the nutrients out of the beet and leave us just the dried fiber to eat, did she? Beet pulp is junk.

Natural Flavor. I always like the way pet food companies hide the use of manure in the ingredients. Natural flavor is made from the manure of the animal the pet food company wants the pet food to taste like. If natural flavor were an actual part of the ingredients then natural flavor would not have to be listed as a seperate ingredient.

Anytime I see a Class Action filed against a company and the products the company produces I would not advise feeding their products to your pets. The pet owners have filed a Class Action against the company for killing their pets.

Fermentation Products - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Sugars are the common substrate of fermentation, and typical examples of fermentation products are ethanol, lactic acid, and hydrogen. However, more exotic compounds can be produced by fermentation, such as butyric acid and acetone. Yeast carries out fermentation in the production of ethanol in beers, wines and other alcoholic drinks, along with the production of large quantities of carbon dioxide.

Alcoholic beverages can cause the same damage to an animal's liver and brain as they cause in humans. But the effects can be deadly on animals since they are much smaller than us. The smaller the animal, the more deadly the effects can be. Even a small amount of alcohol may cause vomiting and damage the liver and brain.

Alfalfa Meal - How many cats have you seen munching on a bale of hay?

Sodium selenite is mainly used in the manufacture of colorless glass - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Pet food producers are using ingredients unfit for human consumption which are killing our pets. The ingredients in pet food must be changed!

The use of Corn, Wheat, and Soy are causing such awful conditions in pets including:

  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Fever
  • Ear aches
  • Ear infections
  • Hot Spots on the skin
  • Bad breath
  • Dental disease
  • IBD
  • Hair loss
  • Sore feet
  • Abnormal nail growth
  • Bloat
  • Weight gain
  • Tumors
  • Moles and warts
  • Seizures
  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Heart conditions
  • Kidney conditions
  • Liver conditions
  • Early pet death

These companies need to be held accountable for the injuries to our pets and our best friends early deaths!

Given Nutro's history of recalls, the class action filed against the company, and Nutro's complete disregard for pet health, I would never purchase any Nutro products for my pets.

Shame on you Nutro Pet Foods for no making Healthy Pet Foods - Susan

I have a femail Balinese kitten 5 months old. She has been on Nutro Max kitten dry food since she was off mother milk and I have been fighting consistantally since with eye infections and lithargy. She has been treated on four different occasions since she was born on oral antibiotics and also ointment for her eyes. I just heard about and read about Nutro food and have her now on Eukanuba. I just spoke to the breeder tonight and she said get her off of the Nutro Max kitten food immediately. I will continue with the rest of the antibotics for a few more days until the Nutro food is completely out of her poor little system and hope to keep you all informed. Any feed back would be appreciated. nancy_mcn@hotmail.com
