Check with your local university and see if they can guide you in the right direction. The FDA calls Nutro "poison". I'm so sorry about your shepard. Please keep any leftover product, receipts, etc. Don't throw them away.

Has anyone had a problem with this food forming eggs?
I opened a can and my puppy would not eat it so I discarded the serving. I noticed yesterday and today that 30 minutes after the food was out of the refridgerator and in her dish that there was some egg clump formation all over the top! My baby ate in total a rough estimate of 6 clumps of food in the two days. She has lost her appatite.
I will test this to make sure that there is no flys landing on the food and laying the eggs.
I will keep you all posted.
PS.This is the regular small breed formula.
Hi I am back after doing a bit of research. Apparently it was house fly eggs.

I have a lab. and an airedale and they have been on ultra for years. They both have problems occasionaly with their breathing. It is almost like an asthma attack. They gasp for breath for 10 to 20 seconds then stop. I don't think this has anything to do with the food but I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas what this could be.

We have always fed our 6 year old German Shepard Nutro Brand Dog food. In July he started sniffing the food and refuse to eat it. I'm not sure why. We had taking him to the vet in July and were told he was very healthy. We started mixing in cans with his dry dog food and he would eat it. About an hour later he acted very strange. We hadn't seen any recalls on nutro dog food so we continued to purchase it and feed it to him. We had noticed that he would eat anything except this dog food. For approx 2 weeks we fed him regular food and he was fine. We then put him back on the Nutro and once again he was acting very strange. Believing that it was a safe product and very good for him we wouldn't change brands. I woke up the morning of September 13th to find him dead. I would like the food tested and I'm not sure where to send it. Can anyone tell me if there is a place to have it checked? My children, my husband and myself are heartbroken.
