Obama Bows to Foreign Leader Again?
71Is he out of his freaking mind?
Several types of Japanese bowing
47 World Leaders meet Akihito, 46 handshakes, 1 Bow
What is it with this guy? Is he out of his freaking mind? This is just totally embarrassing, for the second time he would do something as stupid as this, again. But, then again, this is the same guy who tripled the deficit in less than 10 months of his first term, is pushing an unconstitutional piece of bull sh** through the.House, gives Constitutional rights to non-citizens, expects our soldiers to read Miranda rights to combatants before capturing them on the field of battle.
Why should I wonder about anything this guy does? Would somebody please help me here? I have heard that in Japan, there are different types of "bows", according to your degree of subservience. the deeper the bow, of course, means you are very subservient. This is a pretty deep bow to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, considering that Obama is President of the United States. Looks like he is not a very fast learner, because he must have heard about all the grief he took over the bow to King Abdullah. I mean, I understand courtesy, but there are different levels of etiquette, I believe, for visiting dignitaries.
The word on the street is that he is just covering his tracks from the first "lapse in judgment", when he bowed to King Abdullah. He's just trying to say that it doesn't matter if the head of state is Muslim. Another story is that this is a photoshop. Oh, and Obama only bows to short men. Apologizing for Pearl Harbor? The custom in Japan is that both parties bow to each other, but this seems to be mostly prostration on the part of Obama, and, hence, our nation
The New York Times wrote this about Bill Clinton's "slight bow" in 1994: But the "thou need not bow" commandment from the State Department's protocol office maintained a constancy of more than 200 years. Administration officials scurried to insist that the eager-to-please President had not really done the unthinkable." However, the Emperor had also broken with tradition by making a toast. So, it was nowhere near as obsequious as this Obamateurism.
It's no wonder that he won't release his transcripts from school. It's pretty obvious that he's a pretty slow learner, just what you would expect from a Chicago thug.
Update from Dr. Alan Keyes
Dr. Alan Keyes, former Ambassador under President Reagan has weighed in on the "Obowma." His take on it is that Obowma is very shrewd and this is a deliberate insult to the people of the United States. He said "The appearance of stupidity in the bow to Emperor Akihito covers the shrewdness of Obama's real bow, which is in fact to the requirements of the continuing deception that hides his deep betrayal of his oath and of America's trust."

What I understand from Japanese tradition, is proper to bow, and it is proper for the higher in authority to bow lower than. So, possible, Obama was right on this on, for a change. and the japanese leader was respectful for not bowing lower than BO. Note the height difference, if the Japanese dude would have bowed, it would have been lower than BO's
Keep on Hubbing!
Keep on Hubbinb.
eovery, I'm afraid that is totally preposterous. "thou need not bow" commandment from the State Department's protocol office maintained a constancy of more than 200 years" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxEmMkx-BSA these are the types of Japanese bowing. Looks like the one he made is an apology. The newly elected Japanese President ran of a platform of removing American troops from Japan. Looks like it's not going to happen.
However, I don't believe that any culture would have a more highly statione individual bow to a lower one.
I got this from Wikipedia "On November 14, 2009, President Barack Obama prostrated himself in deference before Japan's Emperor Akihito symbolizing his policies of American subservience and rejection of American Exceptionalism."
I wish this guy would quit traveling the world and apologizing for Americas short comings. These short comings are unfounded. We are America and have our fair share of problems we shouldn't have to apologize for that.
You want to apologize for America move to France first then do it.
yeah. that's what I say. If you don't like it leave.
This "president" of ours is a joke and a national embarrassment to Americans everywhere. If we are such a horrible country (as BO seems to think) then the only reason he could have had for wanting to be our leader is to destroy our system from the seat of power. Remember, he didn't even acknowledge the national day of prayer, but he invited the muslims for a get together in DC. This man is a fool and the world is laughing at him-- at least those places that still think of the American dream. Since the Europeans love him so much, maybe he can lead one of those countries next and leave what is left of the USA alone when he finishes all the destruction upon us that he can.
He does what his handlers tell him to do - which, in this case, seems to be to make himself a joke to foreign powers. How did they sell it to him? Easy - the more you downgrade America to the rest of the world the sooner America will lose her worldwide clout - hence, the sooner America is broken to the will of foreign powers.
There isn't anything that they haven't thought through.
Good hub!
My ex worked for Mikimoto Pearls from Japan for 20 years. The traditional bow is from the head, if the person is older. Mostly only women bow like Obamala. But then he has no class and this will be considered another apology tour. Good Hub!
For me the point is this, stay home Obama and address all the problems on your plate. Remember the troops? Great hub..
I thought you might find this interesting - it is a small slide show of various world leaders greeting the Japanese emperor. None of them are "apologizing" for their countries.

Here is another link to a story on what the Japanese think of the situation-
thanks Madame X for the great links
Hmmm, I guess we'd never see a Republican bow to another foreign leader (or kiss him or hold his hand).

I think bowing and prostration is an instinctive reaction of a Muslim when confronted with superior beings or towards certain cities located in the East...This looks like a bow signifying apology, probably Obama's take on the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a decision made by a real president....
Another timely Hub, well written and informative...Thanks, Larry
