Obama Kills Fly
67Big news from the White House. President Obama killed a fly during a television interview. President Obama did give the fly warning before he killed him. The fly would not leave him alone.
JLHanna, a 22 year old college student and I, a 48 year old out of work due to a severe back injury, had a discussion about whether or not President Obama should have killed the fly.
Introduction
Me - It is amazing that President Obama kills a fly and it turns out to be a hot topic on the internet. I guess we are so bored that this kind of news has to make the headlines.
JLHanna - It be such a hot topic because it's the president doing something that nobody really thought about him doing before. He's the president so why would he need to kill a fly himself. There has got to be someone around to do it for him. People are interested in seeing how the president reacts to situations we face every day.
1. Do you think that President Obama should have killed the fly?
Me - I have no sympathy for insects so, yes, I think President Obama should have killed the fly.
JLHanna - It doesn't really matter either way. There are thousands of them out there, why wouldn't he be allowed to kill a fly?
2. Do you think the media needs to report that President Obama killed a fly?
Me - I think it is totally ridiculous that the media is reporting about President Obama killing a fly. Killing a fly is insignificant and trivial.
JLHanna - Well it is just showing that the man is human but yea it is pretty stupid the media would think this was interesting. Whatever they were thinking, when they reported this was good because they've got "Everybody" talking about it.
3. Do you think they should have cut the interview, had someone get rid of the fly and then continued on with the interview?
Me - Yes, I do think they should have cut the interview, got someone to get rid of the fly and then continued on with the interview. It probably would have been easier on President Obama to do so. I'm sure he couldn't be bothered with it.
JLHanna - I'm not sure if it would have been any easier on President Obama if they cut the interview just to get rid of the fly. He probabuly just wanted to get the interview over with anyway. Seeing Obama kill a fly brings him down to earth just a little bit more for everyone. Nobody can get close to him which makes him special in everyones eyes and normally people would stop the show and jump to their needs. But Obama didn't make them, he probabuly didn't have a second thought about the fly until he realized it was such a big deal to kill it.
4. Do you think President Obama is a bad person because he killed a fly?
Me - I don't think killing a fly should make anyone think that President Obama is a bad person. I don't think anyone should think any less of anyone if they kill a fly. It was just a fly.
JLHanna - Killing a fly does not make anyone a bad person. There are so many of them flying around out there that killing a few for our sanity or the cleanliness of our home isn't going to make them completely disappear.
5. Do you think this incident will help or hinder President Obama's image?
Me - I think this incident will neither help or hinder President Obama's image. I don't think it should matter one way or another that President Obama killed a fly.
JLHanna - Besides bringing Obama more publicity it shouldn't help or hinder his image in any way. All the media wanted to do with this was get people talking and it sure has worked. Maybe in the long run it could help his image because everybody will be talking about him again.
Conclusion
Me - I think that President Obama was in his rights to kill a fly. I do not like flies one bit. I think they are gross and dirty and if I saw a fly flying around I would definitely want to kill it.
JLHanna - Flies are pretty gross and dirty and they do drive me nuts as well. Obama can kill as many flies as he wants to, as far as I'm concerned.
UPDATE
June 18, 2009 - PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) gave President Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher so that next time he sees a fly he can catch in the device and then release it in the wild. PETA criticized President Obama for killing the fly instead of treating the fly with respect. Ths has gone too far in my opinion. It was a fly. I would have killed it too and I will kill the next fly I see and the next one and the next one.

btw, how do you know if a fly is "he" or "she"? answer- if it sits on a beer can, it is "he"; if it sits on a telephone, it is "she". What gender do you think, was Obama's fly?
Truly Different thank you for your comment. As far as I know that fly did not sit on a beer can and it did not sit on a telephone so I am really undecided as to what gender it was.

Man from Modesto, I don't think President Obama will implement martial law and install communism but if it does happen, you can say "I told you so".

Very impressive. Our president is quick and has great reflexes! My only concern is that he was so quick to kill one of God's creatures in such a heartless manner. Wait unitl PETA hears abut this!
