President Barack Obama has only been president for 1 week. He's still battling Congress over the Stimulus package...but low and behold I've got an extra 30 bucks thanks to the New President.

Obama and Spider-Man fans were going bonkers for Spider-Man issue 583 which hit shelves on Jan 14th. The limited edition Obama covered book is difficult to find, forcing some to shell out at least hundred bucks online. A week later on the 21st, the day after the inagauration, a second printing came out, and I swooped up a handful of copies. Version 2 was already selling at 20 a pop online. Version 3 comes out on the 28th, I'll see you all at the shop, it's suppose to have the best cover(American flag).

I got a hold of a few Spider-Man copies, put one on my wall, one in the vault, and and hawked a couple on the internet, they're still in auction but it looks like the $3.95 book will get me at least double the price. Not bad.

Not too many know that in October Image Comic's Savage Dragon came out with a Pre Election Obama Covered Book, Savage Dragon 137. As I was looking for more Spideys in other places, I happen to see the 3rd Edition of Savage Dragon at the comic counter and grabbed a couple at $2.95 a copy, aside from Spawn no one reads Image. But it's cool since I voted for the dude. When I went on E-Bay I saw that they were selling in the high 20s. So why not? I started the bids at a Penny, with free shipping. I figure it costs less than a buck to ship the book. After five days, low and behold winning bid was 30 bucks!!! Ten times retail value. And to tell you the truth, I've seen less of these, and the Dragon actually beat our Spider-Man by a couple months.

So overall, I spent, $3.24 (book plus tax), 35 cents to post, and a dollar to send, so for less than 5 bucks, I'm flipping a $25 profit. Hooray for stimulus!!!

I'm not the only one doing this, others are buying and selling Obama-mania. But if you think about it, for every book bought that's money pumping into the comic shops. For every seller, thats money going to the online sites. You've got to send it of course so the post office, or UPS, or Fed Ex will also get your business. It's a chain reaction or stimulus, and everyone is happy.

The comic industry played this historic election right. Maybe part two, we can see Joe Biden kicking it with Aquaman, that'll give the king of the sea a Super Friendly boost in sales.
