Obama on Dangerous Path in Health Care Reform?

47 million uninsured Americans

There are presently 47 million uninsured Americans and I do not think that it is time to target the Mexicans now that an African American is in office and to have empathy for the people in majority.

I think that what is needed to reform health care as well as the economic downturn itself is patience and understanding. It will take about two years for the president's recovery plan to take effect and then the promise of 3.5 million occupations will be realized.

Criticizing the crisis  that Obama inherited is like throwing rocks at the bus when you can see the bus coming in the distance. Throwing rocks will not make the bus get to the bus stop any faster. But if you are patient and and find the time to volunteer you time in community service then your time will be well spent while the economy churns itself back to recovery. Jobs are being created with volunteer agencies as well as agencies outlined in President Obama's $787 Billion Economic Stimulus Package.

There are a lot of branches on the tree of this economic fiasco. There is recent news that the manufacturing in America is falling because the Chinese is devaluing its dollars and getting most of the business. The fall of manufacturing companies in American and companies like General Electric outsourcing for their financial health instead of keeping the jobs on American soil has a lot to do with the unemployment rate in America and the rising rate of the uninsured.

America is the western leader of the world and is in the center of what is now a world economic crisis. When President Obama met with the world leaders at the G-20 summit, he told the Prime Minister of England that the United States can not bring the world economy to a recovery alone. Additional overseas stimulus was declined by the world leaders but help was secured for underdeveloped nations.

Brazil is prospering because of its production of ethanol and the banks are doing a great job of caring for its poor. President Obama has met with the Brazilian leader and have learned about how the Brazilian government is staying afloat in the economic state of world affairs.President Obama continues to do his homework abroad by speaking with a myriad of world leaders to see what can be done further to improve the American economy. Obama has passed programs for housing, veterans, college students, energy workers, teachers and transportation workers. Most of these bills that are being passed to rescure the economy has been with a majority of democratic support with minimal support from the republicans. The stimulus plan was passed with only three republicans voting for a law that was designed to recover the economy.

One can not blame a group of people as the Mexicans because the group of people have become a larger minority than African Americans. If Mexicans have been able to get jobs, those jobs are probably substandard and paid under the table that will not effect the economy significantly as a whole. How can anyone blame a poor group of people with the generalization that they are not citizens and are stealing American jobs as a cause for the United States economic mess. The state of the American economy have been going on 8 years prior to Obama's election. The scenario sounds like the oppression of African Americans because they were thought to be blocking other Americans from the American Dream.

The only dangerous path is a path not traveled and of unfamiliarity or no action at all. President Obama has the Democratic majority ruled congress and the party of no, the republicans to provide checks and balances to the economic agenda. Republicans have been very vocal about President Obama's economic programs and policies especially congressman Mitch O'Connell and Jugg Gregg, former commerce secretary.

Social Security is an issue that had former President Bush befuddled with steps to privatize the system because money was not being paid in to keep it afloat. A hubpage has been written about the state of the Social Security system and the Mexicans have nothing at all to do with.

People are healthier and living longer. The demographics of the American people is changing and the government programs in place are not keeping up with the changes. America needs a proactive government ruled with transparency so that the America people will know how changes in government program effect them. The social service systems is archaic and Obama is in the process of updating files with information technology to save money. However, introducing information technology into the social service system will not change the demographics that have boomers living longer and the social security system being depleted because more people are getting paid out of it than is contributing.

If former President Bush has been proactive on the privatization measure or at least did something instead of letting programs bubble and burst, maybe the social service system will not be in the mess that it is in today. The unemployed in America now total just about 54 million. Most of the unemployed of of the minority people in America. It would not make sense to blame these unemployed people on the state of the economy. These people are not draining the system even when Obama extends unemployment insurance.

There are 11 million uninsured children in the country which Obama is looking to insure because he thinks that every American should be insured and is moving to a universal health care plan. Hilliary Clinton as the former first lady was unsuccessful in creating a national health care system. Obama has support for most of his programs because the democratic control of the Senate and the House of Representatives. President Obama was voted into office in a national election using democratic voting procedures. There is nothing dangerous about the path that the government is taking as it is a path of prudence with economic advisor with ratification of both houses of government.

I think if people looked at health care reform a bit differently, they might change their minds about it. Right now, many children are getting free healthcare through Medicaid programs in every state in the Union. Many of their parents are also receiving it. The rich can afford the current prices and it only leaves the majority -- the hard working middle class without. The hospitals, if they want the govt dollars have to take everyone, regardless of their ability to pay and ultimately, through stop gap programs and higher Medicaid and Medicare costs, the govt is paying at least a part anyway. The rest is covered by higher costs to those who can afford to pay. By offering an affordable program for all, we are only adding a great deal of money to the pool from mostly healthy workers who need the coverage so they do not end up in the first group. I think it is a no-brainer.

Connie Smith, thank you for your comment. I do not think that the views you presented on health care is a no brainer but it does seem like the people who are in the most need of health care coverage is without. The president and the congress is still working on health care reform that will cover the 47 million uninsured Americans. I think that Obama is known for his smartness and with the checks and balances of congress, the new health care reform must be better than that which is in existence now.

47 million minus the 15 million illegals makes it around 32 million uninsured people. About 9% of the population. Out of that you must deduct for people transferring insurances at that moment, children not placed on their parents insurances. College students that have opted to save money for a year or two (I did this once I had to go buy some after I was removed from my parents insurance plan.) So in reality we have to change something that the majority want to keep for the very few left and that are covered by State Ins. Plans, medicare, medicaid, and hospitals that must take care of anyone who comes into their facility.(Wifes a nurse she will confirm that.)

His plan goes out of its way to abolish the private insurance. It will furnish clinics near or in schools with money for inpatient and outpatient surgeries. Um I bet that is so some ones daughter can have an abortion right there at school which is also paid for under this bill! Great, instead of learning about how sucky of a president he was they can go get condoms and have an abortion for free!

No I want the current plan, if he wants to furnish the uninsured then maybe create hospitals where they can work and those people can work there and get their insurance covered under being an employee. Or the people that think it is vital we support those people with tax dollars can donate 10% of their earnings per week to provide the monies needed to protect them. Why make all the people suffer? Wait I know, the people that want it that have the money do not really want to pay for it on their own because that would cut into their pockets and they cant handle that.

ChristopherD, thank you for your comment.

ur plan sounds undemocratic and unAmerican. It sounds as though you want to ostracize people into hospitals who do not have insurance and have them support themselves with wages earned with hospital pay. How would such a program be managed and are you able to hoist a whole group of uninsured people to work for the hospital so that they will have health insurance?

Then you mentioned a plan to ask people who are in favor of Obama Health plan to donate 10% of their money to support the plan. No program is ever centered on one group of people regarding insurance needs, jobs or donation to health care. There is no way that a national plan you speak of can be managed successfully. The country is in a recession and no one can donate any money to a national program that you described.

I suggest that you write your congressman and let him do the talking. His legislation and plans may make more sense to the American people.

Very well done, kudos!

The Reublicans, starting with Ronald Reagan began the rush to de-regulate anything and everything, airlines (planes began falling out of the air as I recall), financial regulations..this has been done by every Republican Administration. Now, we have a Worldwide meltdown. The poor pay the price Worldwide, as always. Fiscal Conservatives??
