Obamamania mania
54Obamamania Mania
Barack Obama, man, myth, and now a Presidential "icon". Many are already dubbing this man to be the next Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, or John F. Kennedy when he has not done anything to warrant such praise. Yes, he is the first person of African American ancestry to be elected President of the United States, however this does not qualify him to be a legend or a remarkable leader. Making history for the sake of making history does not make you great or remarkable and, sometimes, is dangerous. It is what you with that opportunity that makes you great or otherwise.
The Obamamaniacs are just that, maniacs who support Obama because, somehow, he is a miracle worker, the next coming, or a demi-god who can snap his fingers and make it all better. This type of following borders on the level of psychosis. Obama has signed a few executive orders and proposed more FDR new deal socialist nonsense that will do very little good and put the country deeper into debt. Incidentally, the New Deal and FDR economic policies are proven to be ineffective and counterproductive. Not to mention, they are the very opposite of what his cut taxes and cut goverrnment spending platform was when he ran for President. As such, he outright lied, a fact many conveniently forget about FDR.
Again, we see nothing has changed from then to now. It is more of the same, but merely in a different form and suit. Will the maniacs of Obama see this? No, they will not. They will be content to see him as they want to see him because it feels good. It is a self induced delusion that provides a false sense of relief and security.
One example is Tresaury Secretary Tim Geitner. He is nothing more than a clone of former Tresury Secretary Henry Paulson. He tells you all the things you want to hear, but the reality is quite the opposite. The power dynamic in Washington D.C. does not change, only the players involved. It is essentially new window dressing replacing the old.
Thus far, has Obama snapped his fingers and made the national debt disappear? Has Obama waved a magic wand and made our financial system strong, solvent, and not corrupt? Has Obama lifted his hands into the air and made the heavens rain? The answer to all of these questions is decidedly, No.
This blind adoration and following of Barack Obama is paralleled in recent history. Adolf Hitler had the same mesmorizing and almost god-like effect on people, and it proved to be disasterous. This dynamic is dangerous because there is liitle to no questioning or promotion of healthy cyncism. This gives the leader too much power and too much influence. It is the direct opposite of the checks and balances that our founding fathers fought for. I doubt that Barack Obama will ever become Hitler-like, but the dyamic is dangerous, nontheless. The one thing that does concern me is Obama's proposal to make a civilian corp that has the funding and makeup of a military. That eerily smells of the Nazi youth brigades. And that can be quickly turned into the Gestapo or the S.S. If you doubt that, ask the S.A., Ernst Rhome, and what happened during the night of the long knives on June 30, 1934.
Barack Obama is a man and nothing more. He is not any worse or better than what we previously had. He has faults, vulnerabilities, and weakness just like anyone else.
The ultimate point here is to never follow with such passion that your reason is stifled or becomes disfunctional.
