Two nights ago I was watching President Obama's dinner speech and it was a funny affair. The President joked about politics and politicians alike like no other. He was talking to mostly reporters and had many punch lines for them, especially the FOX news table. I hadn't laughed so hard in a while and I think that was because he was no comedian. President Obama showed the world a coolness that made Americans look cool. He had some notable punches for the republicans and democrats as well. He joked about the prompter issue and got on Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

Obama seems cooler than most people I know. His aura has attracted even the liking of our country's enemies.When Ellen Johnson Sirleaf became Africa's first woman president I thought I had seen history at it's finest. When Obama was elected I thought the world would soon stop turning. I remember a sense of anxiety and thinking " what now ". Almost instantly I pictured a new nation proceeding the dreadful years that had passed. I saw hope for minorities in America and possibly the world abroad. I pictured Martin Luther King Jr. crying like Jesse Jackson was the day Obama won. I pictured John and Robert Kennedy clapping hands in their heaven then immediately after that I pictured an assassination plot. I pictured people rioting and looting nationwide. I pictured Los Angeles in 1992 but on a bigger scale.

I know American history too much to sit this one out. I watch political stuff more now then ever. I thought that maybe, just maybe we now we can get through our biases and (though seemingly democratic) fascist ways. Americans and other countries have hope now because a minority became president of the United States of America. It's like we accomplished something as a whole and now everyone seems to be getting along. I must say that I became proud to be an American when I voted. I had never exercised the right but this was no doubt a had-to. The race card is a card that played me plentiful times in my life. I developed some bias thoughts in my mind after reading about my nation's historical accounts. When president Obama won in the primary all that had flew out the window. What got me curious is whether others felt the same way. I think of a young American nation that would inherit respect for minorities and not take on the racist themes that their ancestors practice.

I have a lot of hope for everybody and I'm not 100% sure why. President Barack Obama has set forth some great things within his first 100 days. I don't expect the economy to pick up fast considering he's cleaning a mess left behind. My hope comes from the way that other countries look at us now as a whole. The perception of the evil Americans might be lifted from us all soon. Within one term we can make more friends then past enemies combined. Mr. President I'm here to support our new look and push for real democracy and peace. DRG supports a free nation and equal justice internationally. I'm down with being a citizen of Obamanation.
