The Democratic Ticket

First thing yesterday morning, I heard about Senator Obama's VP pick being announced, and couldn't be more thrilled. First off, even though I did not sign up for the text message, I think that the way Obama handled the announcement was strategic and genius. I say that the text message idea was strategic because it kept folks on the edge of their seats, and kept Senator McCain out of the spotlight for a couple of days.

I, for one, am very pleased with Obama's pick. With all of this talk about Senator Obama not having enough "experience," after finding out that he has chosen someone with a great deal of experience as his running mate, I was anxious to see what spectators would come up with next. In my opinion, this talk about experience is all hogwash! Senator Obama's sharp judgement is obvious when you listen to him speak. If experience was so valuable, why the hell couldn't the experience of President Bush keep us from heading into disaster as we have over the life of his two terms.

Senator Biden was a perfect choice, bringing all of his foreign policy experience, and his rich family values. As you all have probably read or heard on CNN if you're a political junkie like myself, Senator Biden commutes to Washington on a daily basis, taking the Amtrack home to his family every night.

Now, we're hearing all of this talk about Senator Clinton supporters not being pleased because she wasn't chosen for the ticket, and their being unhappy with the way she was treated in the race for the democratic nomination. I love the Clintons dearly, but I'm lost as to why her supporters feel that she was mistreated or disrespected by Obama. I will admit that I've heard sexist comments being made in the media about Senator Clinton, but I have not witnessed any of it coming from Obama or his campaign. In fact, I think that Senator Obama has gone above and beyond to acknowledge Senator Clinton for her accomplishment of being the first woman ever to make the progress that she has made on the political front. Additionally, he has made concessions that some say he should not have made, in trying to show his respect and consideration for Senator Clinton. Furthermore, there are several reasons why I don't think she would have been a good choice as his running mate.

In closing, I want to acknowledge Obama for his brilliance in choosing Senator Biden. I am confident that those of us who have not yet realized that another four years of a Republican president will drive our country further into the ditch that we have been driven into over the last eight years will wake up over the next three months. I am optomistic that the end result will be that we will free ourselves of this bondage, and emerge after the election with this dynamic duo as our leadership team!

i beg to differ. obama's reference to change couldn't possibly mean he would select someone who has NO experience...that would never fly. there are still people in washington who haven't sold their soul...and joe biden is one of them.

Honestly, I just don't get the it. I'm still not convinced about Obama and it has nothing to do with my previous support to Hilliary's campaign. I was never a Biden fan prior to this election and teaming up with Obama hasn't changed my view. But this is far from over because if McCain picks a candidate like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin the Obama and Biden ticket maybe in serious trouble. As stated on Wikipedia(and from what I have heard listening to programs on CSPAN), Due to her female status, youthful image, background in government reform, pro-life stance, fiscal and social conservatism, and an approval rating in Alaska generally in the range of 80 to 90 percent, Palin could become the ticket to solidify the GOP's conservative base and garner independent support, as well as win over some of the disenchanted Hillary Clinton supporters.
