What is life?

God created the donkey and said, "you can live 50 years in this world." But the donkey answered, "50 years is too much for me, so give me only 20 years, please" and God granted his wish.

Then he created the dog and offered the dog 30 years of life. But the dog did not want to live so long and asked for only 15 years. So, God granted his wish too.

Then he created the monkey and offered 20 years to him. However, the monkey wanted only 10 years and the monkey's wish was granted as well.

Finally he created man and offered him a life span of 20 years. Man quickly responded by saying, "my lord, 20 years is a very little time for me. So please give me the 30 years that the donkey refused, the 15 years the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey refused" and God granted man's wish.

What is life?

What is life?

That is why man lives 20 years as a man.

Then he marries, gives his life to a woman (what a sacrifice), and starts to carry all the burdens like a donkey for 30 years.

Then he lives 15 years like a dog, taking care of the house eating whatever is given to him. He barks for small things also.

Then he retires and lives 10 years like a monkey going from house to house and from one son or daughter to another, performing tricks to amuse his grand children.

This is life, is not it?

  • Make the stay-at-home darlings pay rentBrisbane Times1 second ago

Twenty-somethings staying in the comfort of their hammocks, not paying rent or doing housework, as Christopher Woodley describes in regard to his own brood (Letters, December 28) is more than likely due to these darlings relying on the ''good grace'' of their parents for their entire lives. Why would they change a behaviour pattern that has worked so successfully?
