On a Bike Across Europe For Peace
61Wonderful People in the Whole Wide World
It's about 26 years since I went on a Bicycle Tour of Europe, with my friend Aisola Ravi Shankar. This tour demanded hectic, wide-ranging preparations for about a year and culminated in a 9-month-long journey across 13 countries. Dedicated to World Peace and Understanding, the tour took us close to thousands of people in the cities and small towns and villages of Europe, and enabled us to mutually share many things about India and their respective countries. We pulled it off on an incredible budget of just $350 on each of us, lived 270 days each full of excitement, desperation, anxiety, discovery and fulfilment, and had a fantastic media coverage right through, with over 45 newspapers interviewing us.
More than the places, it's those people that I met who have made it all a wonderfully memorable experience for me. I hope to meet many of them again either through the Internet or perhaps when I travel yet again across Europe. It would be a fulfilment of a dream indeed!

Hi Vaidy. Thats an awesome feat! I can only imagine....
Best Regards
Wonderful! Did you give any speeches or anything when you were touring?
That was an amazing feat...what memories you have collected
regards Zsuzsy
Thanks everybody for your comments. I am sorry about responding late.Hi Warrior, yes I did give speeches all along the trip mainly in two different forums. I spoke at Lions Clubs' meetings (my friend and I were both Leo Club members at the time) and at informal gatherings arranged by club members when we enjoyed their hospitality. I spoke about the origin of the idea, the preparations for the trip, and the experiences along the journey, and also answered questions pertaining to the trip and to India. At the informal gatherings I met students with whom I shared views on political awareness in an international context.Zsuzsy, your comment has triggered an idea for another hub. Thanks. I shall soon do a hub about my memories.
Zsuzsy, thanks to you, I have done another hub on my memories of the Bike Tour.
Glad to be of help. I just read your new hubs (before I realized you left me a note) The magnitude of these type of trips..."bumming across Europe"...I'm actually speechless. I guess what I'm trying to say is that most young people only dream and speak of this...but you and your mate actually did...If my son would have decided to go around Europe I know I would have died a million deaths...
Again an amazing HUB about what must be amazing memories. Thanks for sharing regards Zsuzsy

Hope someone whom you met during this tour reads this hub and responds! I believe in that kind of magic!
