On clothing: Making your own

Whether or not you save money making your own clothes depends on how well you sew, you sense of style and what kind of wardrobe you want. If all you want is a regular workday wardrobe, the price of the material would probably be more than anything you can buy off the rack at Walmart.

On the other hand, if you looking for a wedding dress, or a tuxedo for that matter, and you sew well, have the knowledge to fit properly, and know enough about style to make something that you don't have to try on first to see if you like it, then you can save loads of money. The markup on designer originals, is sometimes more than 1000 percent. And that's not the cost from elite designers.

However, if you just want nice clothes to wear to work, or something to wear to the club, it can be just about even up as far as cost goes. The question is, do you really want to take the trouble to make something or are you most interested in having something unique that no one else is going to have.

Like writing, sewing is both art and craft. You have to know what your doing and you have to know how to get the result you want, or you are just wasting time and money.

Thanks for answering my request. I made it because my partner likes to make clothes and other type of sewing and I tell her that is not worth the work. I guess I really have to convince her to make haute couture lol.
