One Click Web Design
61Introduction
Let's face it. Designing web sites is a lot of work. You have to figure what you want to say. Then, you have to organize it in such a way that it makes sense for your readers. You then need constantly update the content. You also need to understand such things as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, etc. It's enough to make your head spin. But what if you could click one button and you have a fully functional web site? In other words, what if you could practice one click web design?
Is It Possible to Have One Click Web Design?
How great would it be to have one click web design? Now you may be wondering if that iis at all possible or whether it will look professional. But the truth is, you can accomplish one click web design by focusing not on a traditional web site but rather on setting up a blog.
Blogs
Blogs are all the rage and for good reason; Google and other search engines love blogs. It's because of their potential to have constantly updating sites. Webmasters love them because of their ease of use, literally, one click web design.
Most web providers give you the ability to install blog software on your hosting account. In fact, if your provider doesn't include this, ask them to do so or move onto another provider. It's really that important to be able to install a blog on your site. Many webmasters are foregoing traditional web sites and are instead setting their main sites as blogs. Others are incorporating both the traditional as well as a blog. Either way, you need to get your blog up and running.
Benefits of Blogs
The reasons are several-fold. I mentioned before the fact that a blog gives you one click web design. That's a very key benefit. But there are others. You can set up your blog to automatically ping servers anytime a new post is made, either by you or by your readers. Whenever a ping happens from these servers, that increases your chances of others visiting your site and posting or clicking through to other links (that you have set up). Or if you have advertising on your site, your chances increase that your readers will click on that.
Another benefit that I have already mentioned is the fact that search engines are very much attracted to blogs. A blog has a much better chance of getting indexed by the search engines due to its dynamic, i.e., ever-changing, nature. A popular blog can get content updated by the minute. You can't pay for exposure that is better than that.
Get Rid of That Default Theme
It's important though to make sure that when you (or your hosting provider) sets up your blog that you don't leave it in its default theme. Themes or templates in the blog world is the look and feel. The default themes are all over the net and they are rather boring, i.e., plain vanilla. This will never get your blog to stand out. So you need to find themes or templates that make your site look great and professional.
Conclusion
You can spend hours on sites that offer templates. There are some template sites that charge for their templates (I am using the terms template and theme interchangeably here). I would advise against paying for any templates because there are enough that are free. But searching for these template really is going to take a good chunk of your time. This will eat into the whole one click web design advantage. What's needed is a way to generate templates, themes, or what have you without the need to spend countless hours searching.
