A Burger Like No Other
Tired of fast food burgers that have little flavor?? Be weary no more, because here's a burger that's quick, simple and super tasty!! This is a half pound burger with gorgonzola and gouda cheese topped with bacon and homemade honey mustard. If you love gourmet food and hearty meals, this is definitely for YOU!!
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbs. Olive Oil
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. garlic salt
- 2-3 tsp. black or garlic pepper
- 1lb. hamburger meat
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbs. gorgonzola cheese
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 6 thin slices of smoked gouda cheese
- 4 Tbs. brown mustard
- 4-6 Tbs. honey
- 4 slices of bacon
- 2 hamburger buns
- Spreadable butter
Directions:
Burger Patties:
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add olive oil and the spices. Stir.
- Add 1 lb. of fully thawed hamburger meat.
- Drop in two eggs, lightly beaten.
- Pour in the apple cider vinegar.
- Crumble in the gorgonzola cheese. **This is in place of standard bread or cracker crumbs. It holds the patties together and adds a marvelous kick to the burger!!**
- Stir well, making sure the spices and cheese mix through the meat.
- This mixture would make four 1/4 lb. burgers, but these burgers are double decker with cheese in the middle. Divide the meat into fourths as usual. Form two patties and place carefully into a non-stick skillet on medium-high heat to start.
- Allow the first two patties to cook for several minutes.
- On each patty, put two slices of gouda. Let sit for a minute or two.
- Form two more patties and place on on top of the other patties. The cheese should be in the middle of the patties.
- Lower skillet heat to medium-low and place a lid on it. Flip the burgers. Cook until dark brown on the top. Some cheese might melt out the sides, but that's OK, it's still yummy!!
- When finished, remove burgers from the pan and place the patty on the bottom of a buttered bun. Top with finely chopped gouda, bacon, and honey mustard.
**While burgers are cooking, cook four strips of bacon until they are crispy. Also, butter two hamburger buns and heat in a 375 degree oven for 5-6 minutes. Finely chop the remaining gouda cheese into crumble-like pieces.**
Homemade Honey Mustard:
- Add olive oil to a small bowl.
- Add in honey and mustard and stir.
- TASTE!!
- If needed, add more honey or mustard.
- **For an extra burst of flavor add 1-2 Tbs. hot sauce.**
Put it all together and enjoy!! You will likely need a fork, and a napkin is a MUST!!
