Introduction
What do you get if you marry Online Auction Shopping to Network Marketing? The answer is a unique, up and coming new hybrid online business called DubLi. Since its inception in Germany in June, 2003, it has been encroaching steadily on the online auction market sector that eBay has dominated since 1995.

The History of DubLi
DubLi was started in June, 2003. The owners are eleven entrepreneurs, all from Denmark, although they reside in Dubai where the corporate facility is. They initially spent over three years developing the DubLi infrastructure.
This included getting all of the logistics in place, including all of the complex customized software, the multiple licensing and contract agreements involving 160 different countries, and hiring personnel. This first phase ended in October, 2006, when the DubLi leadership felt comfortable enough to launch their business in a few countries in Europe on a limited basis.
They continued to operate with this basic model until July 2006, when they then launched every single country in the EU simultaneously. This launch was accomplished without a hitch; since then, DubLi has continued to enjoy remarkable success. There are currently over 14,000 DubLi Licensees in Europe and over 1.4 million customers.
A little over two years later, on October 4, 2008, DubLi was formally launched in the U.S. After less than two months, over 3,000 new Licensees have been enrolled toward the projected goal of 14,000 by the start of the New Year.
The company further projects that there will be 40,000 U.S. Licensees by the end of 2009 and that the customer base will total 3.5 million. It estimates, further, that by the middle of 2010, DubLi will be generating 20%-25% of the current net profit of eBay.
The DubLi financial headquarters is in Delaware. Their operational-technical headquarters is in Berlin, Germany, and the Home Office is in Dubai. There will soon be a North American facility that will be based either in New York or in Florida.
As DubLi moves forward, it will become the only global, worldwide auction house. Although Ebay is international in scope, its auctions are run independently in different countries, rather than on a truly global basis as DubLi envisions.

DubLi's Unique "Reverse Auction" Platform
The key to DubLi’s intrinsic appeal is its ingenious “reverse auction” concept. In marked contrast to Ebay and all other auctions where customers bid UP the price of products, these prices are bid DOWN in all three of DubLi’s different auctions.
In order to participate in any of these auctions, a prospective customer must first buy one or more DubLi “credits.” Each of these credits has a value of 80 cents. Progressive discounts are offered, however, by purchasing them in packages of increasing amounts.
DubLi offers three separate types of auction:
1) The Xpress Auction 2) The Zero Auction 3) The Unique Bid Auction
In the Xpress Auction, the price of the product being offered is reduced in price by 25 cents each time that a prospective customer spends a credit to determine its current price. Any customer can elect to buy the product at any price point.
The price of each product in the Zero Auction is similarly reduced by 25 cents each time a customer spends a credit to determine its current price. In contrast to the Xpress Auction, however, it can be “purchased” only when the price reaches zero dollars. In other words, the lucky customer who happens to check on the product’s price when it reaches 25 cents thereby lowers the price to zero and wins the auction.
Finally, each Unique Bid Auction runs for a predetermined period of time. The customer who places the lowest unique bid at any point while the auction is still in progress wins the auction. If, for example, the lowest bid submitted is $3.25, and only one person has submitted that bid, s/he is the winner of the auction.
Whenever a customer places a bid, s/he receives specific feedback as to whether the bid is lowest and whether it’s unique. If there are NO unique bids at the close of the auction, there are no winners for that particular auction.

Especially for people who already enjoy shopping, DubLi offers an added element of excitement and just plain fun. The degree of its customer appeal is empirically reflected in the fact that each customer in Europe has brought in, on average, an additional five customers through word-of-mouth advertising.
