The Difference Between Online and Offline Businesses

The difference between online and offline businesses is that the online businesses have no walls and is on the internet whereby offline businesses has four walls and has a location of brick and mortar.  That is one of the reasons that online businesses and offline businesses are different but which business is better and more profitable in  operations?

Let's look at one example of a business that took its business online.  As an Avon business guideline indicated, the online business far exceeds door to door customer data bases by more than 75%.  Of course, Avon is not a brick and mortar business entirely except for the supply store but the extensive difference between the customer base is astounding.  Almost 2 billion internet uses shop online.  The businesses online are globalize meaning the business is not selling just to the continental domains of the United States.  Business are selling to the whole world well outside its territorial borders when  selling is online.

Customer Relations Management reports that there are other distinct differences between offline and online stores, The business publication reports that department stores may even be on the way out.  The internet presence is drawing a significant amount of customers from the brick and mortar department store to the comfort of shopping online from their homes.  Brick and mortar successful businesses attributed one factor above others on its sustainability and that was location, location, location.  The online store has location beat by almost 75 according to the Avon unofficial business report%.  Also  the online business or  nearest store is as close as your laptop or desktop computer.

Customer Relations Management reports, however, that setting up a busines online takes a tremendous amount of research before it can be called a real store.  But it is easier according to research for an online store to become a brick and mortar store than vice versus. It would be solely more difficult for Macy's, for example, to become an online business entirely,  Why?  Many shoppers have grown accustomed to shopping at Macy's and enjoy all the amenities of touching mechandise and trying on clothes as well as testing electronics.  This customer experience of familiarity makes it difficult for Macy's to perform at an optimal level solely on line.

Internet or online businesses, however, tries to get the instore experience with self service gadgets and widgets and the inclusion of social media networks.  Internet or online businesses conduct optimization search sorting and navigation to level the  business playing field.  Online businesses also use images, video footages, product ratings and reviews to give the customer a brick mortar environment or feeling of comfort to the shopper.

Online businesses and offline businesses have the same obligation to supply relevant goods, products, services and equipment to promote customer loyalty and retention.  Customer loyalty and retention will add to the sustainability of both the online and the offline shopping experience.
