Online Cards - - Send An Internet E-card
80Online Card Services Change Everything
Online Cards Make Life Easier
Sending an online card is an excellent way to give someone the greeting you want without the hassle. You have a couple choices when sending an online card. You can send an ecard or a regular greeting card through the mail. There are some benefits for sending cards out online.
No more sorting through cards at the store. No more standing in line. No more addressing, stamping and licking envelopes. You don't have to leave home, and there's no wait for an online card. Instant greetings from you to your receiver. This hub weighs some of hidden benifits as well as the drawbacks of using these online card services.
Drawbacks Of Online Cards
It's Not Traditional
The most obvious drawback to sending an online card versus a snail mail card is that the receiver doesn't get the excitement of opening the card with their hands. He or she won't get a paper cut either. There are always going to be those traditionalists who want to mail things and read real books. They probably didn't get the memo in the mail that would have told them that the mail is mainly for shipping items and advertisements.
In addition to the above drawbacks, online cards don't allow you to bring the card to the birthday party. So if you are invited to a party, you will have to send your online card before hand so the birthday boy or girl will already have it when you get there. This could be a benefit in that you are less likely to forget it with the extra ahead of time planning.
Spam Blockers Might Block Your Card
Although not too common, occasionally a spam blocker may block your online e-card. When all things are considered this is not really a big deal. If the blocker does block the card, the receiver can still get it in their spam folder. If he or she is expecting it it will still be opened. E-cards are not really all that much of an investment, so if your precious e-card is blocked it shouldn't ruin yours or anyone else's day.
You May Have To Join
Many online card sites make you join the site in order to send out cards via your computer. This is probably for several reasons. One reason is for your own convenience. You will not have to put your own personal data in over an over every time one of your friends has a birthday. The companies don't always tell you the price, but some e-card memberships include unlimited designing and sending. The online card companies probably want to keep you as a custumer so you will return to their site once you have invested in filling in your info.

Online Cards Benefits
Less Money
Sending a card online is probably going to be less than if you went to a store and bought one, put a stamp on it, and mailed it. This is because there are less hands the card has to go through and possibly less taxes. Most of the money you would save may go into the cost of the companies service to actually produce and mail your card, but you are getting a better value. E-cards however are nothing more than digital greetings. Since it is not a real card and your receiver knows it's not a real card, you may as well just send an e-mail with a link to something you find online that's relevant.
Less Waste
The 'e' in e-card must stand for environmental. Sending an online e-card is the most environmentally friendly way to send a card. The card is never printed put in tangible form. It stays digital and is delivered to an e-mail address instead of a regular address. That means the recipient will not take the money out and immediately throw the card in the trash. There are no drawbacks for the environment here.
An online card that you create, have printed and mailed from the comfort of your own home, may or may not be environmentally friendly, so there's probably minimal benefit here. At the least you are saving the gas you would spend driving to get the card, but then again you may walk to the store or pick up cards when grocery shopping.
Saves Time
An online card may or may not save you time. A lot depends on how fast you are on a computer. If you are not used to using online applications it could take you just as long as getting in your car, driving to the store, purchasing a card, writing in it, stamping, sealing, and addressing it, and dropping it off in the mailbox. If you are computer proficient it should take you less time on average than a person who chooses individual cards at the store for different events. Thinking of what to write in the card can be the most difficult and time consuming part of sending any card.
Easier
For those of us who spend a considerable amount of time online. Using a service to send a card for us is ideal. Just not driving to the store to get a card is a great advantage.

Hey, you reminded me that I need to copy some of my hubs and mail them to my mum, lol. Not exactly reinforcing to the concept of online cards, but my mother doesn't have a computer. Truth be told, I am one of the old crew who prefer hard copy books over these little library iTape things that flatten my hair and give me a headache. I am listening to one right now, despite the mole hair. It's one of Angie Sage's YA books, Magyk. Well, I can put it down, as this is what happens with iTapes- the thing dangles from the earphones and flops against my waist if I have no pockets, which I do not have today as I am wearing sweats. I suppose it helps get the cleaning done. Anyway, back on subject, I also love to get handwritten mail. There is so much personality in hand writing and nothing quite beats the feel and scent of a snail mail letter. You are right about the environment, though. Sigh. Well, I do recycle my cards. I use them for notes and even paste them on top of my newspaper-wrapped gifts for a bit of color. I'm always out of bows. Well, back to my iTape and thanks for the hub, BF. Can rarely pass one of yours by when I see it in my inbox- I guess this is because despite the type, your personality shines through your words.
Storytellers,
They say that you can tell about a person's mood and even intelligence by their own handwriting. As for mine, people usually say I should be a doctor, but I don't think it's because I am smart or medically minded. My signature is almost like abstract art. Thanks for taking the time.
