New Era of Online Classified Ads

Not sure if you noticed but online classified ads have taken on there own identity. Search engines have started to realize the value of having classified ads sites in order to get their users to frequent their search engine more and be exposed to their products and services.

Craigslist the classified ad pioneer in my opinion took a simple idea of keeping the community in the know and the rest is history. Since Craigslist has come on the scene significant advances have been made in this area.

Online Classified Ad Newcomers

Google has gotten into the game by launching Googlebase.com. Although its still in the Beta stage it's actually pretty good. It of course has your common categories jobs, vehicles, housing etc.

Even more recent is Kijiji.com. Kijiji was made available to selected cities in the United States on June 29, 2007. Kijiji is a subsidairy of Ebay and is very similiar to Craigslist in it's layout and also a good classified ad site.

But low and behold I discovered another site similiar to Craigslist, Googlebase and Kijiji but at the same time I think you'll agree that this website has raised the bar for online classified ad portals.

Classifieds and Social Media

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better some brain child has taken classified ads and social media and literally performed holy matrimony. Yes this website has the similiar style and categories as Craigslist, Googlebase and Kijiji but at the same time I think you'll agree that this website has raised the bar for online classified ads. The site is called www.godslists.com.

The creators behind this site obviously care a lot about one's spirituality to have integrated some unique categories not found in other classified ad websites.

Let's discuss what categories you will find:

Prayer Requests - This category actual has posts of prayers individuals have posted asking others to pray for their various situations.

Church Directory - This category has churches broken into categories by denomination with their contact information for individuals seeking a place of worship.

For Sale - This category of course has your traditional list of sub-categories items for sale and some sub-categories unique to this site such as Medical Equipment, Miitary Surplus, Vending Machines etc.

Jobs - Now this where it gets interesting. They have taken the time to list Clergy and House of Worship positions in addition to the regular job categories you would find on most ad sites.

Christian Yellow Pages - The site welcomes area businesses to post their business offerings to the community and they can upload photos of logos and media material.

Resumes - Similiar to that of other sites where individuals can post their resumes.

Housing - I also noticed that the Real Estate For Sale category is set up similiarly to what you would find on Realtor.com or Remax.com in the detailed field descriptions provided when you are creating your ad. They have also made available 4 photos that can be uploaded with the detailed listings.

Community - Again a category has been created for Gospel Events in addition to the common community categories you've come to expect on classified ad sites.

But Wait There's More

Godslists.com took it a step further and offers web design services, banner advertising and they actual are going to promote area businesses and places of worship through their eNewsletter and blog. Now that's a good example of social media. They are clearing demonstrating that they want to be involved and interact with the community. I can say with confidence look out guys there's a new website in town eager to make a difference in communities across the country one city at time. Check out their website you'll be happy you did.
