A Picture Says a Thousand Words

After years of on-line Internet searching for the perfect mate, I can honestly say I see a pattern in the thousands of profiles, especially in the photos that men post. We may be able to write very articulate content or content with horrible typing and not one word spelled correctly, but let's face it, a picture is worth a thousand words. Guys, take it from a woman, these are the things that don't impress us, even though you post them with the intent of sweeping us off our feet. Of course, I'm speaking about the mainline dating sites that monitor the pictures that are posted and only allow clean photos.

Top Ten List

  1. You post a picture of yourself with your ex-wife or ex-girlfriend cut off at the side. Definitely tacky and in poor taste. Find a picture that isn't cut, torn, or shows another human body cut out of the picture.
  2. You snap a picture of yourself in your bathroom mirror with your shirt off. Yikes! Too much information too soon. Most women aren't ready to see you bare your chest and hairs at the first click of a mouse.
  3. If you wear glasses, that's fine, but please update the frames. I can't believe how many men still get glasses with frames designed in 1960. Get hip.
  4. Don't post pictures of your latest catch or kill. Frankly, most women don't care about what you've shot or caught. Remember, you're not trying to impress the boys here, it's the ladies.
  5. You're in your 50's, reclaiming your youth, and you've posted numerous pictures of the Harley you just purchased at every conceivable angle. This tells me you'll probably love it over me or I'll have steep competition.
  6. If it's not the motorcycle it's cars. You've posted your new sports car and/or your old classic car. Does this mean you're going to take me for a ride one way or the other?
  7. You've posted a picture of Cary Grant in your profile or some other model's photo you've copied. (Note to reader: This writer has really seen a posted picture of Cary Grant on an on-line dating site. Of course, if you really looked like Cary Grant, I'd probably drop you a line!)
  8. You've posted a picture when you were a young hunk in college and you're now 60, but have no recent pictures of yourself. What are you hiding?
  9. You post a picture where you're frowning and angry. Great way to scare away the women.
  10. You post a picture of your living room in a total chaotic mess. Are you looking for a cleaning lady or wife?

Ideas for Good Photo Shots

So what are the kind of pictures that give women warm inviting feelings?

  1. Recent pictures that honestly show what you look like, preferably where you're clean, dressed, shaved, smiling, and in good surroundings.
  2. Pictures with your family such as your kids, siblings or parents.
  3. Pictures of your pets, especially if you're hugging your cat, petting your dog, or riding your horse.
  4. Pictures of places you've been, trips you've taken, the things you like (for example the ocean or the mountains).

Let your pictures say a thousand inviting words, instead of posting photos that scream red flags. You'll be much more successful in your on-line dating pursuit.
