Online Store Owners - Don't Ignore Signs of Being Scammed with Online Wholesalers
66If you've decided to start an online store, it can be an exciting time. When you realize that you can make money on the internet by capitalizing on the fact that so many people now buy products online and that you can actually do it without stocking anything or even having to touch the product you're selling --- it can open the world of online business possibilities. Not needing a warehouse and staff can make your online business venture much easier to run on your own! Many online businesses today are built based on relationships they have in the background where the online store facilitates a sale but doesn't have to manage the supply chain. This cuts down costs, staffing requirements, and the order cycle time as well.
Online dropshipping businesses work on the basis that a wholesaler will handle the supply chain aspect of the transaction. The website owner gets the traffic and convinces the visitor to buy something and then the wholesaler does the shipping of the actual product to the end user.
How do you know you're looking at a good deal? It's important to thoroughly investigate any company you're thinking about doing business with.
Here are some signs that you're not getting the best deal:
They're not a wholesaler. In fact, they're a broker network. This means that they get a commission but are not the true wholesaler. This is cutting into your profits. Why not deal with the wholesaler instead?
They charge a fee to do business. A true wholesaler profits when you do and doesn't need to charge any additional fees above and beyond that. Fees to do business are a sign of a bad business deal
They want you to pay for business leads. This is often a telltale sign of a gimmick. Leads don't typically pan out as they're not typically qualified and this can be very frustrating and costly
They don't have a good online reputation. You have done your homework on what people say about them, haven't you?
What's the best way to ensure you're getting a good deal? You want to find a true wholesaler who has a great reputation in the industry. Do your research before establishing a relationship and risking losing time, money, and customers. You should look at the industry as a whole with respect to product sourcing, supplier relationships, and industry tips. All these things together can increase the potential success of your online business.
