Online High Schools
53Choosing an online high school
Choosing an online high school is not as difficult as one would think if you make the right choices early on. Some of the things that you should consider include:
- Is it accredited? There are two basic types of accreditation; regional and national. If a school is accredited, you should be able to find its accreditor listed on this Department of Education of Recognized Accrediting Associations. The only missing legitimate accreditor from that list is CITA (a conglomeration of mostly regional accreditors).
- How is the curriculum structured? Is it all online, partially online, or mostly off-line, but assignments are submitted online. Decide which works best for you and select a school that meets that requirement.
- Does the school have experience offering online high school courses? Bear in mind that most online high schools are newer, but experience is a good thing.
- And yes it is a little self-serving, but is it listed at Best Online High Schools? If it is not, you may want to post a question in the forum to find out why.
