Internet Network Marketers – Is Attraction Marketing Training Really a Good Idea?
64Attraction Marketing Up Close
Attraction marketing is the idea of branding yourself on the internet, also known as creating You Inc.
When attraction marketing is done effectively, the marketer is providing value, and rich content that provides a positive impact for all online marketers regardless if they join You or your opportunity.
It is the opposite of those replicated systems with flashy graphics and fast cars. Effective attraction marketers are not seen as spammers, or over promotional.
The rational is that deep down, people want connectedness. Selling yourself first, providing universal value instead of promoting your business or product up front, is what creates that trust factor (almost instantly in some cases).
Why Is Attraction Marketing a Good Idea for Internet Network Marketers?
The one thing that is not being taught in internet network marketing these days is the major reason why most fail.
People are not being taught actual marketing. The old school idea of spending a fortune on leads and hours cold calling or chasing your friends and family is dying out. Most people realize after awhile that it just doesn't work.
And if you think the only people who can be effective in this industry are trained salesman, smooth talkers and those thick skinned individuals who have weathered the storm of rejection, you may want to do a little more research.
The Buzz About Attraction Marketing
Attraction marketing and personal branding is considered by the elite and most successful internet network marketers to be the one and only choice for a long term, full time income.
Imagine getting calls from complete strangers who are willing and ready to do business with you on a daily basis. These people feel like they know you; trust you and ultimately, will be successful working with you. That is a prime example, and the goal of attraction marketing.
Attraction Marketing Approach
The approach is accomplished by branding yourself, and considered the opposite of hunting down anyone and everyone to do business with in a network marketing opportunity. For internet network marketers to be effective, they must learn how to get people to approach them.
The effective attraction marketer is already known, liked and trusted before they even speak with their prospect. The prospect knows their story and who they are. The attraction marketer educates their prospects before their prospects call by asking them to do their homework. The effect is prospects already know they either want to buy or join.
This is becoming well known in many online circles, and quite a buzz amongst the most astute following internet network marketing.
One doesn't have to look any further than the enormous success of Mike Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring, Ann Sieg's The Renegade Network Marketer or Brad Weinman's Attraction Marketing Blueprint.
Is Attraction Marketing for Internet Network Marketers to Easy or Hard?
Attraction Marketing is simple enough to understand, but can be much more difficult to implement and master.
Internet network marketers who put attraction marketing practices Into action will have to be patient for daily leads generation.
It has been said by an industry leader and advocate of attraction marketing, that it takes a foundational layer of 30 pieces of web content to begin seeing the leads generation of attraction marketing fame.
Are internet network marketers patient and diligent enough to create that much attractive web content?
There is the learning curve of over promotion and true value. Especially if you are a new internet network marketer excited to learn attraction marketing.
This point was illustrated in a Hub criticizing Marketing Merge Renegade University students, an education and training program founded by Mike Klingler designed that teaches attraction marketing.
The person who created the Hub called the majority of Marketing Merge Renegade University students a bunch of spammers. The author of that particular post sited thousands of Hub posts intentionally promoting Marketing Renegade University.
Attraction Marketing Teachers Tell Their Student to Provide Value
The attraction marketing teachers tell their students to be who we are; to provide value, and sincerely help our prospects get what they want...it's that essence, they claim, that will separate us from everyone else who is trying to promote the same business or opportunity.
So for those disciples who are honestly trying to lead with value, brand their name as a name that can be trusted and someone who genuinely wants to help their prospect make money online, how do they wind up being called a spammer?
The truth of the matter is learning how to use attraction marketing techniques effectively is a tremendous undertaking. There is a fine line between producing Value (which is the first ingredient towards branding yourself) and producing Spam, even if one's intentions are authentic.
Furthermore, simply putting up a blog or website that tells of an upbringing in a dusty cattle ranch in Eastern Oregon while staring at the foot of our mountain of dreams hoping for a better day isn't going to produce product customers or business builders.
Why would your prospect care?
One thing is for sure, the emphasis cannot be put on making money because taking the attraction marketing path, especially if you are new to internet marketing, just isn't going to create immediate wealth.
But it is entirely possible to cover many of your basic costs, even a small grip of cash in your pockets.
How is someone supposed to market themselves if they are new or have never been successful with online network marketing before? People want to work with the people who are perceived as being the best at what they do. You see it in every industry. People want to do business with those that are at the top of their game.
It takes some time to position yourself as an expert on the web. A sincere commitment and investment to acquire the necessary skills to compete must be undertaken. I believe this is the direction online network marketing is going. Those that aren't sincere or willing to commit to attraction marketing will be weeded out.
What can someone new or unfamiliar with attraction marketing do to begin offering value?
When someone is new or hasn't made a dime yet, most aspiring online network marketers don't think they have much value to share with their prospects. For people in this situation, it is hard to recognize the value and knowledge they already have right between their ears. Like most new people, the only experience they have making money online is that of failing to do so.
And there lies our first clue.
Bob Dylan wrote that there is no success like failure and failure is no success at all. When we share our experiences of online struggle and/or failure, we are positioning ourselves as having more experience, especially for people who have never done online network marketing before. In other cases, it creates a feeling of common ground with other people who have been burned or haven't had success.
In this example, we have identified two cross sections of a target market:
1. newbies and
2. other unsuccessful online network marketers.
Anybody can position themselves on the internet as an expert, and that positioning doesn't have to be based upon experience alone (although it will help the longer you stick with it). If you don't feel you have enough knowledge on a particular subject, you can gain a collection of shared knowledge.
Another point that has been found to be true is that people just want to be supported. How many stories have you heard about people being left out in the cold to fend for themselves once they've joined a business? They're as common as those flashy replicated websites. If you are willing to be there for someone as they learn this business that will be a huge selling point that makes the average internet network marketer attractive. It only takes helping one person at a time.
The internet network marketing industry is about helping others succeed.
If, deep down in your heart, you are more concerned about making money than helping others, you will fail to build a successful long term business.
Another idea that can be powerful for achieving leverage as an attraction marketer is to write a review about the business you're in or the product you promote. The review concept can be used to gain credibility, but it must be done objectively. It cannot be one-sided. When you can articulate the great things about a product or business, as well as the other not-so-great things that people should keep in mind, it makes you much more trustworthy in one's eyes. It will help you be perceived as an expert.
The last suggestion for learning how to effectively create attraction, and position yourself as an expert on the web so prospects approach you is to approach your upline. When you join a network company, and you don't have a story yet, ask your upline for a written or audio testimonial that you can share on your personally branded website. Anything that enterprises You. It could be an email conversation, or an audio interview of sorts. As long as it lets your prospects perceive you as valuable. If it builds your character, it creates trust.
What it ultimately comes down to...
I've presented attraction marketing, and ideas for learning attraction marketing, but what it ultimately comes down to is increasing your value to other people through education and experience. If you aren't willing to become a student, a genuine learner of attraction marketing principles, like anything else, you will fail.
And it doesn't take longer than a couple months to purchase, learn and apply from the five to seven essential attraction marketing courses for one to know more than 95% of the "other" online network marketers. Doing so will increase your knowledge and expertise to a level which will increase your value to your prospects.
Something to keep in mind...
Prospects always want to know what they're going to get as a result of working with someone. Something to keep in mind as you create your web presence is the "So What?" test. Imagine your potential prospects asking "So what does this have to do with me?" or "So how will this help me?" after they read your content. This point must always be addressed. It is the real trick of being effective with attraction marketing.
Online network marketers who strive to learn attraction marketing must make that profound transition that keeps the prospect reading. They must be both subtle and direct about why getting to know you will benefit them. It isn't easy, and it takes time, but it sure beats buying leads, cold calling and chasing friends and family. The online network marketing industry is on the front end of a new movement. Attraction marketing and attraction marketing training will be leading the way.

Eric, Great Hub that perfectly illustrates how Attraction Marketers can provide value to the marketplace rather than just "spamming" their opportunity.
Cheers - Zoe
Excellent hub. It reminds me of the old saying about prospects and how they will not care how much you know until they know how much you care.

Eric,
This was an exceptionally well-written Hub. You demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles of attraction marketing, and present the information so that even someone completely unfamiliar with network marketing can follow along.
