Opening Closure
44
Closer the edge of the park
Closer the deepest nature.
Inside cyclists spiral
Down a weekend velodrome.
Mossy lake rowers gaze
At cloud hazed towers,
Calm looks at swamp rats
And shudders.
The blackest stones radiate afternoon
As Sunday skippers
Trip
down
the granite
staircase
To the newly marbled fountain.
Songs spray out
Brought up from the music well
Artesian level.
The moment, perfect Mozart
Pulled in by the wind
Floats
Inland up
Glistening song,
Remembered more than heard
Where destiny meets eternity.
Closer the edge of the park,
Closer, the deepest nature.
