The game is set in a small, fictional island in Russia that is occupied by the Chinese. The introduction sets up the mood and says it all. After that, no more interruptions. No more cutscenes.

This game is as realistic as it can get. In real life, military operations are not easy tasks. Operation Flashpoint 2 tries to get the factors that affect a successful operation as accurate as possible by making its missions like real military operations.

Some of the 11 missions include smaller objectives like setting up recon patrols, covering friendly units, executing covert operations and providing air support.

The realistic interface makes Dragon Rising a challenging game. Some missions may seem outrageously impossible to complete, but no mission is impossible to cross. Each mission will probably take you more than 30 minutes to complete. But as you increase your difficulty, it is not your enemy who becomes tougher, but the program only lessens the help you get.

Since the battlefield in Operation Flashpoint 2 is dynamic, situations don’t lay themselves out the same way if you repeat a mission. This means no boring repeats. You continuously engage your head to some kickass planning and strategy.

This naturally can bring about frustration in the part of the player, but this is something that you need to overcome in order to enjoy the game. Therefore, this game is for the ones who are smart, strategy wise and willing to crouch and wait for the best fighting chance. Victory tastes very sweet in this game.

The game can be played in cooperative mode. Three other players can play an entire campaign with you. Within the campaign are short bonus missions that can be unlocked which players can embark alone. Dragon Rising can also be played in competitive mode to which 8 players can enter. There are two modes available for competitive mode. Annihilation is a death match, whilst Infiltration is a search and destroy operation.

As you become increasingly drawn into this game, the spoils of war will make you yearn for even more. In the end, the game’s environment will bring you a whole new gaming experience.
