Those who are blessed with natural high metabolism can eat their cake and stay thin, but for most of us, that is not the case. But not to worry, as there are things you can do to make your journey to weight loss a little more comfortable.
Organic, as opposed to pharmaceutical appetite suppressants, come from the earth. They won't make you shakey, irritable, moody or poor. You can find them at your local grocery store, and they won't break to bank. What follows are foods that will make you feel satiated and satisfied... until your next meal.
Grapefruit. There is a reason why a whole diet was developed around this little orangish-yellow ball of juice. It works! When you are feeling the hunger pangs, reach for some grapefruit. Whole or juiced, its a powerhouse of nutrients, especially vitamin C, lycopene and pectin. Grapefruits alkalize the body, aid in releasing toxins and lowering insulin levels. It cuts hunger and buys you time until your next meal.
Soup. Soup goes a long way in quelling the hunger making it an ideal appetite suppressant. Clear broths are best, creamy the worst. Use you best judgement. Make your own and be creative...lightly saute your favorite vegetables, add water or chicken broth, cabbage and diced tomatoes.
Water. The next time you feel hungry, drink a tall, refreshing glass of water. It will stop hunger for a while and flush the toxins and fat out of your system. You will be going to the bathroom more, but think of it as liquidating the fat and peeing it away....now there's a visualization!
Fiber. Take a psysllium capsule with a large glass of water to turn off those hunger signals. Raw fruit and vegetables are also great sources of fiber.
Do nothing. Next time you feel hungry, sit and be with your hunger. Pick up a journal and start writing. Many times your brain signals hunger when reminded of painful feelings...this is called emotional eating. Become conscious of why you are triggered to start eating. Breathe your way through your hunger and see what comes up. Use this time to become more self actualized. Jesus fasted for 40 days...hunger can be a revelation.
