"Is That Oak?"

Bug Thugs at Your Door

Have you seen these Orkin bug commercials? Imagine opening your door to reveal a lifesize bug wanting in your house. He's delivering pizza that you didn't order or maybe he's saying he's broken down and needs to use your phone.

It's a genius concept that plays off the old "stranger in your neighborhood" scenario. Is it an effective ad? More than likely because for the first time in awhile, it's got people actually talking about Orkin's ads. And quite frankly, I'm not sure I've ever seen an interesting Orkin commercial before these.

Orkin: Pizza Delivery - "Why don't I, uh, place this on your table?"

The Agency Behind the Bugs

The Orkin Bug: Unwelcome Visitors campaign was created for Orkin by The Richards Group with Zach Math directing and copywriting by David Morring. And if you're wondering who's responsible for those large bugs, that would be Stan Winston Studios. Yes, the same Sam Winston Studios behind Jurassic Park and many, many other gigantic ugly creatures to grace the big and small screens.

The Richards Group is also responsible for a number of other extremely effective ad campaigns including the Chick Fil-A cows. Genius.

Orkin: Broken Down - "I wanted to call my brother-in-law."
