Ormond Beach or Daytona Beach
Ormond Beach is just north of Daytona Beach on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. We live in Ormond rather than Daytona, here's why:
- Ormond Beach as a whole is cleaner and a little more upscale. I'm not a snob, but clean is important to me.
- Ormond Beach is less congested than Daytona Beach. Traffic on Granada Blvd. is really the only heavy spot and it's not too bad.
- There are better recreational programs for children including a large soccer and baseball complex. Daytona has nothing close.
- The beach is less crowded.
There are plenty more reasons, but the most important is whether you like an area or not. We've settled in Ormond Beach after living in Daytona Beach Shores. We've been in Ormond since 1996 and wouldn't live anywhere else in the area.
Ormond Beach Golf
Ormond Beach - Great Golf
We have an avid golfer in our family. It's not me, it's my husband. By avid I mean 100 rounds a year. For 90 of those rounds, he doesn't leave Ormond Beach.
Michael joined Riviera Country Club in Ormond Beach last year. It's a great course owned by the Myer's family, and, the people are the friendliest you'll find. It's a par 71 at about 6,000 yards for the white tees and 6,300 from the blues. It's got some pretty challenging holes, so bring your best game.
Other golf courses in Ormond Beach include Tomoka Oaks, River Bend, Halifax Plantation and Plantation Bay. Plantation Bay has 45 holes of golf, but they are private courses. The others are all public or semi-private.
Year-round golf is just one more reason to choose Ormond Beach for your home.

Can you please tell me a little bit more about the schools in Ormond Beach? My wife and I are considering investing there in the short term, and perhaps moving there in the long term. Thanks.
Ormond Beach is a Great Place to Live
Ormond Beach is located in Central Florida on the Atlantic Coast, just up the road from Daytona Beach and is considered part of the Daytona Beach Area.
Homes in this area range in price from the $100's up to millions of dollars. We have many communities including gated communites, manufactured home communities, beachside communities.
The Ormond Beach real estate market exploded about four years ago, but has since come down. The average home price in Ormond Beach is about $286,000. We lost about 10% in value last year, but have held relatively flat for the past few months.
The weather here really is great with warm winters and relatively cool summers, certainly cooler than Atlanta or the Northeast. We get a nice breeze off the ocean that keeps the temperature down. We are about five degrees cooler than Miami.
Speaking of Miami, have you driven through Miami recently? Good luck, the traffic is bad. Compared to Ormond Beach it is horrendous. We have a few events like the Daytona 500 and Bike Week where we have congestion, but nothing close to Miami, Clearwater, Orlando or Jacksonville.
We are about 60 miles from the Orlando theme parks, an hour from Cape Canaveral, an hour from St. Augustine and three hours to Miami. Even Key can be driven in a long day.
So, great weather, good location, and lots to do make Ormond Beach a great place to live.
I am a real estate broker serving Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach and the surrounding area. I've sold over $30,000,000 in homes and condos over the past five years. Give me a call at 386-566-7503 to discuss the market or homes in Ormond Beach or the surrounding areas.
