Slumdog Millionaire is one of the enjoyable and touching movies selected for Oscar nominations 2009 for best picture. Directed by Danny Boyle, the storyline is about a teen age boy named Jamal from the slums of India and how he manages to become a celebrity in the game show "Who wants to be a Millionaire" hosted by Anil Kapoor. Director Danny Boyle takes us back through the teen's life to show the audience the mean-streets of Mumbai and the education he received and how he gained all the knowledge to answer the questions correctly. Very interesting indeed. The King of Indian Music, Mr. A.R. Rahman has scored the music for Slumdog Millionaire movie. The soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire entirely depicts the mood of the story.
2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Directed by David Fincher. Another great Oscar nomination in 2009, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. When hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams is on her deathbed in a hospital in the area. Her friend Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being born with several diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Raised by a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Interesting story told very well with a wonderful screenplay.
3. Milk (Oscar nominated best picture 2009)
Harvey Milk, played by Sean Penn, was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. His victory was not just a victory for gaey rights; Milk fought for human rights. Milk moved to San Francisco with his lover in a great working neighborhood. Milk runs a small business and enters politics. It is a great story of a man told very interestingly. Sean Penn has given a terrific performance as Harvey Milk. No wonder Sean Penn is nominated for best actor award. Note that this movie is also nominated for best director. Perfect feature film for oscar nomination in 2009.Directed by: Gus Van Sant.
4. The Reader (Oscar nominee for best motion picture)

Directed by: Stephen Daldry Michael Berg, 15, is rescued by Hanna, around 30 when he falls ill on his way home. The two fall in love and they have a great relationship until one day Hanna just disppears. After 8 years, Mike and hanna meet again under different atmosphere. Hanna is tried for murder in the court.
5. Frost/Nixon (Another great Oscar Nomination)
Focuses on the television interviews between journalist David Frost (Michael Sheen) and former president Richard Nixon (Frank Langella) that happened in 1977. A jewel directed by Ron Howard which Ron is selected as a Oscar nomination for best director. Remember the watergate scandal. After that Nixon agreed to interview with Frost. Great movie that captures the history for the future generations in a realistic and unchanged way.
