It's always an amazing discovery that the things we use at home have uses other than the primary ones.  I thought of choosing two common household aids - the cooking oil and the fabric softener. If you know of other uses not listed here, please feel free to share.

Other Uses of Cooking Oil

Are you aware that your cooking oil has other uses than simply for frying your fish, meat, chicken, vegetables and fruits? Here are the other uses:

  1. Faster way of cleaning your pet’s food plate or container. It would be best to apply small amount of cooking oil on your pet’s food plate or container before putting food on it. By doing this, it would be easy for you to clean or wash the food plate or container. The cooking oil will retain the glow of it, too.
  2. Can be used in cleaning traces of soap around the bath room. Apply a considerable amount of cooking oil on the door and the surroundings. Let it stay for five minutes then rinse with water and soap suds. This would effectively remove the traces of soap left after a bath.
  3. Faster way of drying up nail polish. Cooking oil sprayed on nail polish hasten the drying process.

Other Uses of Fabric Softener

  1. Drives away mosquitoes.    It is not needed for you to spray chemicals to drive mosquitoes and other insects away.  Just by putting a bowl of fabric softener at the corner of your room will help.  Mosquitoes and other insects do not like the fresh scent of fabric softeners.
  2. Lessens dust accumulation.  Fabric softeners are designed to make fabrics soft and smelling good.  But you can use them in wiping tables, blinds, or tv screens with the aid of a piece of paper.  This will help eradicate dusts and prevent them from coming back.
  3. Cleans kitchen utensils.  You can pour a considerable amount of fabric softener on a pan with a difficult food stain.  Put a lot of water and cover.  Wash after 30 minutes.  Fabric softeners have the ability, like water, to soften food particles that hardened on the surface of kitchen utensils.

Will try fabric conditioner to ward off mosquitoes.. I have a hammock set between two fruit trees. I'm wary of mosquitoes knowing of the danger it brings. Interesting idea, ms bing. Thank you and more power.
