Our Reunion
part 14
Marie had walked over to the left side of the stage behind a miniature weeping willow tree. The little girl was standing on a pathway of black rose bushes. The backdrop had a two-room cobblestone home painted on it with flowers and small trees all around. The well for the home sat on the stage near the right front corner of the house. I had seen the little boy bump the well slightly and with the way it moved, I thought that it had to be Styrofoam. The set still looked good.
After Marie had gone behind the tree, the girl asked in her direction,” Do I have to make him a boy again? I like him better as a frog!" "Yes" came from behind the tree. The little girl stomped her foot and pouted. After looking all around, she pointed her finger towards the floor and a boy appeared from the smoke. After he had reappeared, he looked wide-eyed at the girl and ran screaming off the stage to the right. The little girl turned to watch him leave with a strong emphases of putting her hands on her hips and pouting. After he had been gone a few seconds, the girl turned and stomped her right foot while looking towards the weeping willow. She then yells out, "You made me turn him back and now he's gone. I'd a changed him back. I just wanted to play with him." Marie stepped out from behind the willow and proceeded to hold her broom out and sat sidesaddle on it. She slowly floated towards the little girl and as she neared her Marie told her,” You know better. You can't play with the boys around here." As Marie was rising on her broom towards the right and top the little girl said,” Can I turn my schoolteacher into a frog?" Marie was gone but said "No" And gave a fading witch "Heh heh heh." The girl stomps her foot and pulls her hands from her sides only to put them back angrily. She stomps her foot again and then the curtain comes down.
At this point a narrator comes onto the stage to thank everyone for coming. He continues, "Ladies and gentlemen we hope you enjoy our 5th grade play. They wrote it and with very little help on the props. There are two adults in the play and they were only allowed their input but not their help. The 5th grade has written, painted and completed the entire show themselves. We also want to thank everyone with this show for all his or her work and ideas. Without further ado, I will turn the stage back over to Mrs. Arrow and Mrs. Nelson's 5th grade wonderful students. Again thank you one and all for your support of our show."
