We all know the feeling. You head out to your favorite restaurant and have an incredible dinner. Your first thought after dinner is "wow, I wish I could make that at home!" How much money could you save by being able to replicate a great recipe from one of your most enjoyable dining experiences? The truth is, you wouldn't really save time, but sometimes its fun to cook at home. And the added challenge of copying a delectable dish is just an added bonus.

Okay, the bloomin' onion IS good. It is good and filled with hundreds of calories, and we got one. Thank goodness there were 5 of us to share it, and we didn't even finish it. Now that is one huge onion, and I can only imagine what kind of crap they put in the earth to create a monster onion like that. The coconut shrimp appetizer is good, but once cold- turns greasy and soggy.

Outback does have a variety of non-beef options, but all of them seem to involve cheese, butter, cheese, cream sauce, cheese or a heap of pasta with cheese. Even a healthy-sounding grilled chicken breast dish comes smothered in a ton of cheese, like enough for four grilled cheese sandwiches. It's nuts!

There are a few fish dishes, but since they don't specialize in these, I don't order them. And I definitely I don't order the king crab legs because I know Costco has the same damn things at 1/4 of the price. And they all basically come from the same frozen Alaskan source, right?

Drinks are a plus here: they are strong. You get what you pay for. So drink up. But depending where you need to be, you'll have a long stretch of Highway 101 to navigate, so be careful. I usually have 2 drinks in a 2 1/2 hour social get together, and I'm still a little fuzzy.

My favorite thing at this place? The chocolate cake tower thing with raspberry sauce. It's my weakness. I almost always order it to go and then nibble on it for 4 days out of the fridge. It's a chocoholic nightmare and so damn good. They obviously don't make it there, but who cares.
