When life seems to be as bad as it can get ... remember this!

"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" (Romans 7:18-19, 24, KJV)

Tired of falling down, and living the same old life of defeat? There is a way to overcome sin, be freed from iniquity, and live the victorious life in Christ Jesus. But know this: victory will only be yours, when your nature is CHANGED from the nature of sinful flesh, into the new, and holy nature of the Living God!

Now is the time to surrender your old, fallen nature to God and allow Him to impart His new, holy nature within you. By doing so, you will rise to walk in newness of life, and begin living the life of a soul set free, a child of victory, hope and promise! New life can be yours today, if you are willing to turn to Christ, and receive His new nature within you!

Broken, hurting, ruined lives litter the world scene today. Everywhere you look, you see the hollow eyes, faraway gaze, and heavily etched lines of stress written deep into faces, so desperate, forlorn, despondent and weary. People are tired of running here and there and back again, hoping to find something, anything that will satisfy the deepest longings of their heart and soul.

No matter where they look, however, they're consistently denied the hope they so desperately desire, and their soul so intensely craves. Like King Solomon, they chase after the wind, seeking for something to fill the God-sized vacuum within them, only to come up empty-handed, no matter how hard they try to fill the void. Indeed, in our world, all is vanity; meaningless, and there's no hope for anyone.

The Apostle Paul reminded us of how pitiful our fallen state is, in Romans 7:24, when he wrote, "O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" (KJV) Many people today are in the same situation as Paul, before his salvation; they know they're perishing, but don't know where to look for help, if hope even exists in their world.

In Romans 3:10-18, 23 (KJV), the diagnosis worsens, as Paul paints an even more hopeless picture for those who are bound by sin; "There is none righteous, no not one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no not one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes ... for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."

And in Romans 7:23 (NKJV), Paul adds: "For I know that in me (my flesh), nothing good dwells."

Look how far from our once-perfect state (at the time of creation), sin has plummeted us. Nefariously, like an unseen malevolent, ever lurking in the shadows, sin worked its wicked schemes upon humanity, until finally, it left us blind, halt, maimed, and eternally hopeless. How like Saul's former sin-bound self, all humanity becomes, as a result of sin. For that reason, we have all cried, "Where is the hope of a brighter tomorrow? And why is there no promise of a better day?"

Now, that's about as bad as bad news can get, isn't it? For without hope, we are completely ruined. I once read, that humans can live forty days without food, four days without water, and four minutes without air, but we can't live four seconds without hope! Always remember; you will never find hope in the sphere of humanity, for without Christ, we are 'altogether undone," for "in us, nothing good dwells." (Romans 7:18, KJV)

When Paul was reminiscing about his former days of bondage, he certainly painted a bleak and hopeless picture for us, didn't he? And worse yet, that picture was perfectly accurate in its ability to reveal the true lostness of the human condition prior to the work of Redemption.

In the fallen state of humanity, there is no hope, no bright or glorious future to anticipate, only a continuation of the ways of depravity and death. Therefore, if you're looking for humanity to save you, forget it, because it ain't gonna happen! So stop fooling yourself, and accept the fact that there is no power in mankind to save anyone! As long as you allow yourself to remain in constant contact with sin, you'll keep dying, in a slow, endless process.

I believe the complexities of the human condition have not drastically changed in thousands of years. In fact, I seriously doubt if they've changed since the fall of Adam, in Eden, the day humanity forever lost its innocence. Throughout the first seven chapters of Romans, Paul (as Saul of Tarsus) looked at the utter hopelessness of his former condition, when, he was miserably bound by the sin nature, and asked; "I am so wicked, so lost ... where is the hope?" (Paraphrased) That's the same dilemma that confronts the world today: they know they're lost, but don't know who can show them the way of life, or give them freedom from sin.

The good news is: Jesus Christ is the same Lord who miraculously transformed Paul (Acts 9) as he headed toward Damascus, on an official mission to persecute the church. Though he had planned in his heart to do wicked things to innocent people, yet God in His incredible mercy, reached down His hand and radically changed his life. Now here's where the story gets really good: what God did for Saul (Paul) He is both willing and able to do for you. All you have to do is believe that God loves you enough to do the same life-change in you, and then simply ask Him, by faith, to do it.

Let me reiterate that last point again: And be sure you pay close attention, for here is the hope many of you have been looking for: what the Lord did for Paul (Saul), He is willing and able to do for you.
