Experiencing Anxiety Attack Symptoms from Lyme

I was in the midst of an unpleasant sensation which was too familiar to me: an internal quivering anxiety and the feeling of being "out of my mind" and out of control. These symptoms have plagued me much of the time since suffering from Lyme disease, and they are what one might define as the anxiety attack symptoms.

To get a much needed anxiety relief, I took out the binaural beats sound CD which had just arrived that day in the mail. I put on the headphones, played the CD, and sank back to a comfortable chair, hoping and waiting for a relief of this awful sensation. I didn’t know what to expect, of course, having tried so many ways to combat this particular symptom of my illness. But to my pleasant surprise, about 20 minutes into listening to the CD, a sense of calmness overcame me. The feeling of out of control was eased, and the shaking anxiety much relieved. It’s as if my body and mind had a “tuned up”. I was quieted and relaxed, and was able to breathe deeply. From that day on, I had continued to benefit from binaural sound therapy, and continue to be amazed by what it can do and the healing it induces.

What are Binaural Beats?

When two different frequencies are played into each ear, the brain will try to balance the frequencies and resonance a beat; this beat is the difference of the two frequencies. For example, if frequency of 380Hz is played into the left ear and 390Hz to the right ear, the brain will generate a “binaural beat” of about 10Hz. These beats are not actually heard, since they are well below the natural range of hearing, but the brain detects this low-frequency resonance.

What is the significance of all this? It's been discovered that these binaural beats can be used to elicit responses in the brain, and when this happens, the brain is said to be "entrained", and the brain wave patterns are temporarily altered. This can be very significant, because this internal resonance has the potential to alter one’s state of mind, well being, and here is the buzz word, their consciousness.

Brain Wave States

Scientists have discovered that our brains operate in five levels of frequency: gamma, beta, alpha, theta and delta. Each level of frequency is measured in cycles per second, or hertz (Hz). Following are the levels of frequency:

Gamma (40 Hz or above) - heightened sense of perception, information processing, and state of pure compassion.

Beta (13 - 40 Hz) - logical thinking, analysis, and active attention. Stress can induce higher end of beta waves.

Alpha (8 - 13 Hz) - daydreaming and creative visualization, and deeply relaxed
state or meditation.

Theta (4 - 8 Hz) – dreaming and deep meditation states, where the subconscious is accessed.

Delta (0.5 - 4 Hz) - dreamless deep sleep and healing.

Benefits of Binaural Beats

As you can deduce, when the binaural beats fall into a category described above, it can produce desired benefits. For example, if you wish have more restful sleep, you can try using delta wave binaural beats. And for deep meditation, theta waves are desirable.

For me, because of the intense stress that Lyme disease inflicts on the body, my brain waves often reached high beta, which is associated with anxiety and extreme heightened sensitivities. But when listening to binaural sound files which lower the brain waves, I would experience a sense of calm and ease. The internal turmoil that the body has is alleviated, and mind is quieted.

Long Term Use of Binaural Beats

With consistent use of binaural sounds, its accumulating effects may improve one's quality of life and break the vicious cycle of long-term medication use and dependence. It certainly has helped me immensely since I discovered binaural beats 3 years ago; the benefits are simply immeasurable.

If you are are looking for an inexpensive and safe way to achieve anxiety relief, I invite you to discover the wonderful healing ability of binaura beats therapy. You'll be amazed by what it can heal and do.
