61Overcoming Anxiety?.. Put a Stop to Panic While in the Kitchen!..
As the old saying goes, "if you can't take the heat than get out of the kitchen!" Overcoming anxiety in the kitchen can grow to be a hard
battle fought that ends up in you losing the war. Just think about the
tv reality show Hell's Kitchen, and look at all the pressure that comes with running a kitchen. You would have to be a very strong minded person in order to overcome panic attacks in the kitchen. So throughout this article I'm going to go over some basic principles and simple strategies, in which you can apply immediately to your plan of overcoming anxiety successfully in the kitchen.
I worked in a five star restaurant for four years as a grill
line chef in West Palm Beach Florida, and let me tell you first hand
that this was by far one of the most stressful periods in my
life. Until I started to realize exactly what it was that I doing wrong
to cause such anxiety, because outside of work I was a super
cool and relaxed type of guy. If there's anything that I do hate - it
has to be being stressed out. So with this regard I had to
come up with a master plan in order to defeat this enemy that had such
a hold on me, and was stopping me from overcoming anxiety in the kitchen.
The first thing that I did was look at the root of the problem
- which was ME! And I advise you to do the same thing, because we are all our biggest enemy. You must be honest and realistic with yourself if you ever plan on overcoming anxiety successfully, because we all know the signs when we see or feel them. It's just that some of us tend to ignore them while others deal with them immediately
so that they don't have to deal with this same issue later on down the
road. And with that being said, you ought to get in the habit
of taking full responsibility of certain issues in your life, because
only YOU know what you feel, so nobody else can't help you solve your problem unless you know exactly where the problem is coming from.
After I discovered where the problem was coming from I attacked it head on! Because one of my issues was that I had no type of orginization
or plan for my work shift on the grill line. But once I knew my exact
problem I was able to quickly conquer it by coming up with a
full proof strategy to make my work shift go a lot smoother than
before. Thus allowing me to reduce panic on my road to overcoming anxiety successfully.
Another one of the main problems that I realized was not having
enough self confidence to get through a traffic rush of people that decided
to have dinner all at the same time - (Don't You Just Hate When That
Happens ;-) What I found out was that I was to much in a
hurry to do nothing. You know those type of people that you see at work
who always appear to be doing something, but aren't really
doing anything except running around like a chicken with its' head cut
off. Well I'm ashamed to say that use to be me before I built up my self confidence to the point where I feel I can defeat a hungry grizzly bear without a weapon.
And before I go I want to leave you with a bit of helpful
advice. If you ever want to get on that successful road to overcoming
anxiety, no matter if it's in the kitchen, at home, at work,
etc - You Must First Look Deep Inside Of You! Because we are the only
ones that can stop us from achieving anything we want out of
life. So please don't cheat yourself out of a better life, and start
taking action today on overcoming anxiety.
My Simple Step-by-Step Strategy to Overcoming Anxiety in the Kitchen...
Step 1: Get to the root of the problem first by looking inside of you to see exactly where the problem lies. Don't skip this step because it's the most important aspect of overcoming anxiety effectively!
Step 2:
Once you've gotten to the bottom of the problem now it's time to put a
strategy or plan together to defeat this problem. Hint: Just be honest with yourself because you know exactly what you got to do - Just Do It!
Step 3: Get yourself fully organized, come to work early if you have to - because preparation is the key to success in this business. This
will make things a lot easier on yourself and make your dinner service
go through much more smoother. Therefore reducing your anxiety and putting a stop to panic in the kitchen.
Step 4: Congratulate yourself on a job well done,
because if you can't learn to appreciate yourself then nobody will.
This will help to boost your confidence through the roof, so
you no longer have to depend on praise from someone else. All the
matters is you first - everyone else will soon follow, because
of this new found power that you just discovered you had. So all of
your positive energy just attracts more positive energy around you.
